What does your dearler charge for the 5k service

Funny you should ask, as my local dealer's service writer claimed he "misquoted" the price for the oil change (1300 miles) and that synthetic oils cost more. While on vacation I had it changed at 5700 miles at the dealer in Kalispell, MT and they charged me the exact same price as regular oil even though they used the same oil as my local dealer. So one claims $93 for rotation and oil change, the other did it for $49.95 plus taxes.

I have coupons for the next few, so well see what games the other service department wants to play.
 
I have only had my Runner about a month. I thought we had 2 years free service? Or is that just the oil changes?

That deal was offered some months, and not others. Not everyone has the free 2 yr. maintenance.

I'm not sure about the tire rotation, but my local dealer quoted me $67 for the synthetic oil change when I stopped by to pick up supplies for my break-in oil change. Considering that the oil/filter cost me $57...that's not a bad deal. I decided to do it myself to get familiar with the vehicle, plus I didn't want any BS when I brought it in at 10k for the free one.
 
My FIRST service was included when I bought my TE. I scheduled an appt at 5k and when I got there, they told me there wasn't anything that needed to be done. I had them rotate the tires since I was already there and they told me to come back at 10k and that the first oil change would still be on them. :thanks:
 
Rotated the tires myself @ 5K, bringing it in for the 10K service in the next couple of weeks. I'll post what they charge.

$68 for the oil change with synthetic oil, and 13.95 for the tire rotation. They didn't charge me for my first oil change because I bought it there.

My next service is at 15k miles.

Call your dealer and ask him why he changed the oil on a vehicle that doesn't need it for another 5,000 miles???

He needs to read the service manual with the updates for the 4runner.......10,000 miles for oil 5,000 for changing tires
 
Not sure what mine charges, they gave me my first one for free. I didn't get the 2 year free maint, so I'll know on my next one.
 
Well the prices that people are paying their dealer don't seem too outlandish - at least considering the shop time charged around my area and local auto parts store prices (for the DIY'er). So far,only my local AZ carries the 0W20 Mobil 1 - at a hefty $7.49/QT. Throw in about $10 for the filter, and the $85 paid by the OP would only be about 1/2 hour of shop time. Pretty reasonable for an oil change and tire rotation.

I wanted it changed at 5k for the first service and now I'm going 10k for the rest. He did say that they recommend every 5k though due to the heat stress here in Texas.

Service Manager wrote it up as '1st Free' b/c of the 5000/10000 mile change in service contract.
 
You don't have to rotate your tires if you don't want to. The oil and filter should be changed at 10k miles. Make sure they change the filter, ask to see it.
