What is this connector used for?

I was taking apart my dash for the 492nd time - but the first time since I had the Viper 791 alarm/remote start system installed - and noticed this connector dangling. I don't remember removing it before. Where does it connect ?????

... I have a feeling it's something very elementary and I might be told that I should feel very stupid for even asking this. But after working on my audio system upgrade the last 3 hours, I simply don't care how stupid this question may be... ha ha...

I'm pretty sure that is a temp sensor for the auto-air. It plugs in on the under-dash trim benind the small vent slits just to the left of your finger in the picture.

yep, that's exactly what it is.

Soooo, that probably explains why my Auto Temp isn't working properly?
ie: keep the HVAC system controls on Auto and HI and still get coldish air out of the vents. Likewise, can get warm air when the auto temp is set at 67 or so.

I guess I might've inadvertantly pulled it off the mating connector when I removed the panel.

I love this website...

I have been trying to figure out why my climate control had just 2 settings, LO (which was very cold air) and everything else (which was very hot air).

I searched this site, found this post, removed my dash and sure enough...the temp sensor for the auto-air was unplugged! Quick and easy fix....

This appears to be my problem as well...is this connector on the driver side? I installed an rs3200 on the passenger side of my 04, and ever since then my ac has only had 2 settings; F'in cold, and hellaciously warm. Anybody have a clue as too how to remove the dash? The above pic also looks like a 4th gen, is that correct?

Your right. 4th gen, drivers side, comes off with just a few screws I think. I will check later to be sure. It is just below the ignition switch.

It wasn't unplugged. Now anybody have any ideas as to why my AC only has winter and summer settings?
