what off-road capacity do I need?

I enjoyed the ND that I test drove. The wind noise with the top up combined with the fact that WV really isn't convertible friendly made me not regret my FR-S. Plus, I can haul my bike and 3 year old in the FR-S.

All true. That is why I'm waiting for MY 17 to get the ND w/ a PRHT. I'm past time hauling my own 3 year olds but do haul my grandkids. Again that is now the job of the JK or the Audi, next year it'll be the job of the ND or 4runner [depending on circumstances].

Purposefully don't have any animal living under my roof anymore, like the freedom of not being a servant to the furry critters [although they are fun].

To each his/her own, it what makes the world go round.

I do some hunting and fishing. Need to cut across fields, shallow streams, down fire trails and such. No rock climbing really, no desert treks or anything major.

Will a SR5 be adequate or do I need something more?

This will also be a 1/2 time daily driver and used in snow/ice in the winter.

Since it'll be both a road and light off road vehicle, I don't want to over-buy for the off road function but also don't want to skimp if a stouter trim level is needed.

I'll be buying new, and most likely ordering.
