What to look for in 2010 T4R TE

I've been on the site for a few days looking for an answer to this but could never really find anything. So I'm Looking at picking up a silver trail edition in the next week but it's out of state. It has 114,000 miles on it but looks to be in supurb condition. Is there anything I should be looking for that would be a deal breaker and not drive it home 1600 miles.

It wouldn't be hard to find one with less miles. That said just make sure you're not paying too much for it. I bought mine last February for 27,000 with 42,000 miles, running boards, cross bars, clear bra, KDSS, one owner and all maint. records.

Would 21,000 be to much. For what I'm seeing I think it's a pretty good deal

Check the classifieds here. I think a couple of trails are for sale. I think 21,000 is waaayyyy to much for a 2010 with 114k on the clock.

There is nothing on here in the price range of under 25k. I've done tons of research and the price is about right and what i would be expecting to pay for a fifth gen. What about anything I should be specifically looking for before I sign the dotted line.

A couple things to check.

#1 car fax... Worth the $20 bucks
#2 does it have KDSS. If so, it it working properly?
#3 check in the frame holes for dirt and mud (ask me how I know)
#4 check all low hanging undercarriage for rock rash. People are seldom honest about how they used the vehicle. This will give some scope of its history.

just my experience here. similar to [MENTION=104049]marshal[/MENTION], i bought a 2010 TE w/ KDSS w/ 51k miles (certified pre owned) for 28k in San Antonio in October of last year. They are out there. dont be in a hurry thats how you get a bad deal. and dont be afraid to leave the state to get what you want. I got lucky and scooped mine up for a great deal (IMO). not as good as marshal but i havent lost any sleep over it. in fact ive had great dreams about it... :sleepy:

Like [MENTION=115953]HerT4R[/MENTION] said, don't be afraid to leave the state. I found mine on the Denver craigslist and emailed the seller, negotiated - bought a plane ticket for my best friend and I arrived in Denver at 9am local. Did the deal, spent the day in Denver and then started the 1300 mile journey home.

Looks like a reasonable deal to me, if it's in good condition. I bought my '01 when it was 6 years old with 117k miles and that thing was bulletproof.

I don't really understand why people are saying to wait and comparing your deal to theirs, yet they purchased a truck with significantly less miles at a significantly higher price ($6,000-$7,000 more). Seems to me they're missing that you want a 5th gen for under $25k (which is not common).

I'd make sure the timing belt has been replaced. If not, factor that in to your pricing.

FWIW my last 4runner i replaced with my '15 had 210k on the clock, with the only meaningful repair being rear wheel bearings at 200k. They basically last until you get bored and sell them. At that mileage I'd be looking at brakes and whether maintenance appears to be done. Oil changes, etc.

The price seems within reason, but not a great deal.
