What Winches are you running on your 5th Gen Hidden winch mounts ?

So I pulled the trigger and bought the BudBuilt hidden winch mount. It arrived a couple weeks back and I installed the mount yesterday. It's a pretty tight fit and not a lot of room in there, but it will work.

I'm curious what model of winch you guys are running on your hidden mounts?
If you have any pictures of the winch mounted with the bumper cover off that would be great, but not necessary.

I'm mostly interesting in knowing which models will fit the space we have. In contacting Bud, the only response I got was, "anything 10,000 lbs or less".

I know it's the spendier option, but the Warn Zeon Platinum series. Mainly because the biggest issue with any bumper mounted winch is that accessing the clutch is always a challenge.

On a hidden winch it can be a real pain to even touch, and even harder to crank over to free spool.

The Platinums are clutchless, or rather they use an electronic/remote clutch, so they're pretty ideal for hidden winches.

More expensive for sure. But also keep in mind they're all the same size, weight, regardless of capacity. You also don't need to relocate the solenoid unlike another winch (Warn included).

I went with a Warn Zeon 10-S and added the wireless remote and when I contacted Bud, he confirmed it will work with his hidden mount.

While I dont have the Buds - I went Pelfrey- I put in the updated Warn VR10 and did not need to relocate the solenoid. The price was right $570. Reaching the clutch is no biggie either, just cut 2 overlapping holes with hole drill bit in the plastic shroud. Pelfrey's instructions tell you what to do.

I went with Buds because he's the only one I found that makes one specifically for the LE.

I will second (maybe its 3rd or 4th by now) this option, no regrets. It is not worth it for everyone to spend that much on a winch but its a solid option. Only had limited use for mine but it worked when I wanted it to and having a remote makes life easy in the smaller/hidden bumper options

I hope I never use mine but I'm confident that it will be ready if I need it. I probably would have ended up with a Come Up if they had better customer service. Warn's proven track record and the way the stand behind their product made an easy decision to spend a few bucks more.

I'm running a ComeUp Seal Gen 2 9.5k rsi on my hidden winch mount, however not Budbuilt but most winches you will find will fit 9.5kishh. It's wireless, lil pricey, and you do have to disengage the clutch to free spool.

Easy fix though...

A friend of mine has the Budbuilt hidden winch mount on a 2011 TE and has the Smittybilt XRC-9.5K with synthetic rope (98495). He got a screaming black Friday deal, otherwise he would've gotten the X20-10k. I think it fit just fine, other than a little bit of massaging the AC line that runs across in there.

I run the X20 10k in my SSO slimline bumper.

I'm running the x20 10k on mine and I just nudged the line out of the way a bit like he did. For remote and clutch access I just cut out the plastic on the top in the engine bay. You can reach through and do it from near the winch but it can scrap the hands up a bit. Op, Shoot me a pm if you want me to shoot you some pics.

I'm happy to hear that nudging the line worked for you with the X20, as that was not enough for me. Obviously we are talking about totally different geometry (assuming you mean you also have the BB hidden mount) because I have the slimline bumper, but I had to mount the control box to the left for it to fit (and it fit very well in that configuration).

Ah, yeah. I have the bud built hidden on a stock 2013 sr5 bumper. Should have clarified that.

I bought insurance before I needed it. I put off installing a winch as my Trail had low range with all diffs locked up. Whoops.

Two days ago was the first time I could not rescue a stuck vehicle. I was, am embarrassed a bit. The car and all around was floating sand. I managed to get it closer to shore but I began to dig in and there was no solid ground.
Luckily another 4wd saw us and came over. He tried the straight pull and I stopped him before his diff hit sand. He turned around, connected winch and out it came.
Have it all on order later today.
