I finally installed an old Cobra CB and Wilson 5000 trucker antenna I had laying around.
I like the diamond plating. how hard was it to do all that?

How do you like the diamond plate on the doors? Does it get hot in the sun?

I don't know, I bought the truck with it already installed.
Not really a problem with the sun but it does get cold in the winter. I actually don't mind it and the wife likes it, the only problem is when cranking up or down the windows, sometimes I scratch my knuckles

I finally dropped the 200 bones on a knock sensor and then got my 87 smogged. I don't know much about the knock sensor but it seems to be running better...?
On the way home from the smog check my battery light came on. Took it in to NAPA and had the alternator tested, and yes it was time for a new one. When I pulled the alternator out it was full of oil. My valve cover has been leaking for a few months, not bad but Im pretty sure the oil killed the altenator. So today put on a new valve cover gasket. In the process of cleaning the cover I broke the top of the PCV gromit. Couldn't get the old one out... permatex to the rescue! Only have 50 miles on it so far no leaks.

seafoamed the runner 2 days ago...lots of smoke, kept going and going and going.
got a slight misfire so i pulled the plugs all were good except #5 pass side closest to firewall, plug was wet with gas not a lot but noticeable
replaced the plugs with ngk vpowers and got some ngk wires coming in today post pics later

Love the wires, I have the same. Super cheap through rockauto anyway.
You might want to check the condition of your cap and rotor as well.
I filled up today. I got 9.7mpg. Far cry from the 19 I get. I blame the dyno. Lost a 1/4 of a tank on that thing.

what's wrong with the AC?
as far a the clutch goes... check out rock auto. (I know I keep saying that haha) they were about the same as the local parts place though. $120. its hit or miss.
well I washed it. only to drive through a construction zone that kicked up dirt on my still-wet car.

My ac squeals like a dying pig lol..gonna try change the clutch on the ac (cheap route first) then if not ill get a compressor.
Yeah ive been checking rock auto great prices. I was about to order my ngk wires from them woulda saved $10 but when I pulled #3 wire the cap on the wire broke off so I just got them locally. Also just an update my new plugs/wires have made a huge improvement on my first gear take off. Truck doesnt shutter like it used to, launches smooth, but still a slight miss while idling.

btw I'm sure you have but did you try checking belt tension or replacing the belt?
well besides premeditated impulse buying a few things this weekend, I decides I need to try an oil change. got a nice ticking that's made itself more prominent lately... same thing my Mazda does at oil change time. haven't changed it since the rebuild anyway. probably full of lithium grease. bet it made it to the lifters.

I've been doing that now since I got my intake on. sounds awesome.
Anyway I finally went 4wheeling for the first time. Midterms are over and I have time to play now

I would love that. too bad you guys didn't do it this Wednesday to Sunday. right after midterms and I have Thursday through Monday off... :/ I joined too late for any input.
not gonna lie I was pretty nervous at first. don't know the limits and felt like I was almost ready to tip on the drivers side. also seriously contemplating a 1uz.

Finished the baseline process and decided to finish up the annual cleaning, pulled the dogleg (rear door/fender) covers, glued them back, and washed the rig down.
Apparently even though I washed the tires down first, Meguiar's HotShine Tire Foam DOES NOT like the saline-y-slit-Hollister Mud/Dust or the BF_Goodrich rubber because it did this to my tires.
Had to re-clean them w/ silicone spray to fix the problem and am gonna email this to Meguiar's for the warranty/guarantee refund.

quite a busy weekend with ye old runner...
Fluids: front & rear diffs, TC, manual trans, and a fresh oil change...
Here's the kicker/where things got weird...
jump in it to take it for a spin, will not shift into reverse. Grind...grind ...grind..
Dear gawd what have I done?!
checked the fluids...no leaks...check the clutch bracket...sure enough.. clutch pedal bracket broke (again)
woke up the next morning and hit up pick a part.. no 4runner clutch brackets..pulled one from a v6 pick up (2wd) ...not the same BTW :naughty:
ended up pulling my bracket and welding it up and bracing it a little.
Such a PITA working under the dash in the pedal area.
All is well now. :driving:
