Yeah okay we get 4runners arnt nascar but they are pretty quick and fun.

I was driving home tonight when I got passed by a ford explorer with a group of highschool kids driving blasting rap. I do the same thing but this guy passed me then started tailgating the car in front of me then he changed lanes right when a car pulled onto the road and i watched him rear end a Mazda. This all happened withen a few seconds,,, and we were going about 55 - 60 in a 40 zone.. Driving fast/aggressive is cool when your the only one in the vehicle and there is no one on the road. BUT in a old 2 door explorer with 4 or 5 people inside. Not cool and really dumb

I don't know if anyone else does this in the 4th gen but I used to drive with the engine breaking and low gears to act like it was a manual, but after realizing I was probably not helping the engine and trans I stopped but it was so much fun to down shift or just have the rpms around 2-2.5 thousand and hearing the exhaust with the back window down. If I can now I drive to keep the mpgs high cause I'm just another broke college kid. :banana:

Oh and as for the explorer, my dad before he got his first 4runner went through 4 explorers, one was totaled, the other got stolen from a gas station on his way to work one morning and was totaled, another the engine blew and the last one had one of the most screwed up transmissions i have ever experienced (wouldn't shift into first gear, started in second) anyway all of these had less than 75k So Gay, i love my toyota!

Aggressive for the most part when in the 4Runner or some other truck, especially if somebody does something stupid, but sometimes I just can't be bothered, though.

People who drive around with high beams or HID's from Autozone get ALL my lights at the very last second, and swerved at.

Someone doing 20 in a 55mph zone also gets the lights.

People are shocked how often I used my horn and how I don't hesitate to yell out the window.

People who tailgate me (although I already am going decent unless someone's up front), get played with; going slow then coming to a stop. Try to pass me and I mash that pedal, wishing I had the Tundra motor more often than not.

People who cut in front of me when they see me coming, and make me BRAKE get my lights as well. I'd be a liar if I said I never passed the person and went as slow as possible, as well.

I don't do any of this in the corvette, though.

idk if angel is the right word, i am hoping this post was all a clever rouse otherwise you should have your license revoked and some sense beaten into your little brain.

I didn't take offense at all. I was just saying, it's not really fair to consider a 4Runner a slow vehicle. You're right, it wasn't designed to be a fast vehicle. It is a 5000lb (give or take) body-on-frame SUV. And for what it is, it's pretty fast. Considering it's faster than many other cars on the road. I have raced and beat a few cars, such as a 2010 Kia Forte (with the upgraded engine, 2.4 L), a newer Honda Accord V6, and I kept up with a Hemi Dodge Charger. All I'm saying is that for what they are, at least the 4th and 5th gen 4Runners, are pretty fast. I think I read something that the 4Runner was the second fastest in it's class, falling less than a second short of the Hemi Jeep GC for 0-60.

i call BS on you dude, unless you have some performance mods not listed in your sig you didnt pull on a new v6 accord or keep up with a hemi charger. i used to own a charger and the 4Runner could never keep up with one, not even a v6 one. my 4Runner is a v8 and its not even as fast as my Silverado was, i will say that the decent low end torque for the engine size makes it feel fast. but at the end of the day it is still slow, it is a 16-17 second truck.

I've never been an agressive or jerk of a driver, I like speed alot with anything I ride or drive but I also knows there's a time and a place for it. Never been a fan of street racing but will support group speeding any day.

Since my lift I have definatly slowed down - more so in the corners. However since the new bumper I have found it amusing to myself and my buddy passenger to creep up behind people (small cars) and see how long it takes for them to get out of the way, they usually move pretty quick. I dont do this very often, just sometimes for a laugh, once with the wife in the car and I got smack upside the back of my head.

For the most part I'm responcible behind the wheel, no accidents in 15 years and never drink and drive unless I'm out wheeling and camping away from any pavement.

And there is always a dog hanging out my window when I'm on the pavement but as soon as we hit the dirt, she's either way ahead of me waiting as I bump along or running like crazy to keep up.

Actually, I did beat that Accord V6 in a street race at a traffic light. Twice actually. And with the Charger, he was definitely faster, but like I said, I kept up. It was a 40mph, 3 lane highway. Cars speed 60mph+ frequently. I was doing 50 in the left lane and I look and he was right up my back bumper. I hit the brakes then floored it. He was behind me and finally passed me when I was doing well over 70. I kept up right behind him and he was trying to lose me too. We exchanged middle fingers when he had to turn a few miles down. And you do realize that there are a few videos on Youtube of a Charger losing to a V6 4Runner right? And the V8 4Runner is faster than the V6 4Runner.

Kind of the point I was making with the last few posts.

But you're right, I probably should have worded my first post differently.

At any rate, the speed capability of 4Runner's, wasn't the main point of my original post, anyway.

The main point I had, was commenting on the members that feel they have to teach other drivers a lesson by tailgating, cutting them off, flashing their lights, etc.

Reacting to poor driving, with more poor driving, doesn't help anyone.

I usually drive like a bat out of hell, albeit a heavy one with a big arse. I'm trying to put my bad habit in check for the sake of letting my Runner enjoy itself and maybe keep mechanical issues a touch at bay. I don't do anything horrible to it, but I figure the less wear and tear the better.

These SUV's all do 0-60 in about 4 seconds and tip the 1/4 mile in high 12's and low 13's

I'm just sticking to my original point. For a truck that isn't a pavement princess and is extremely capable off road and reliable, it is pretty fast. I'm sure nobody here bought a 4Runner for it's ability on the racetrack. But I'm also sure not many people on here will say there truck has a problem getting up and going when they need it to.
