Wheel Spacers....which ones to get?

Hello everyone,

I have always wanted a more "aggressive stance" and since my truck is NOT lifted I cant get bigger tires but want to put on wheel spacers to give it that aggressive look.

Problem is, I know nothing about them. What am I looking for? Certain kinds are good and certain are bad (read something about hubcentric don't know if its good or bad).

What I have is a 1999 limited 4X4 NOT lifted running stock tires (265/70/16).

What am I looking for? Any links to products help. While I dont want to cheap out on what I buy I am a college student so keep that in mind!

Spidertrax WHS007, 1.25". There are some others out there, but I'm not sure of the brands, Maybe All-Pro. Check the for sale threads, they pop up for sale fairly often.

Oh and yes, our trucks are hub centric.

I don't wanna really bring up another wheel spacer thread but there are tons of info about them on this site. Just to let you know, you will probably have to do some trimming on your fat-lip bumper since you're not lifted..

Wheel Spacers Dangerous

GTFO of here.

That's an AutoZone Special. That's NOTHING like a reputable wheel spacer, like SpiderTraxx.

Would I run a UNIVERSAL(above video) wheel spacer from AutoZone, or any of those other places, no.

Do I run wheel spacers? YES. SpiderTrax 1.5". Have I had a single issue out of them in the last year and a half I've owned them? **** NO.

Drop the Friday clip on him speedy.

10 +yrs w/ spacers not a single issue.
T4r,Tacoma etc + wheel adapters =garbage
...... + wheel spacers (hub centric) = no issues

If you want them, get them. I have the spidertrax for my stock wheel setup and they are high quality. Two things you must ensure you do: Tourqe them properly and don't put the lugs on backwards. I read a post a while back where the gentlemen didn't do either and his wheel came off at 70mph.

I'm having a hard time visualizing how it's even possible to put the lugs on backwards. How is that done?

Also, op, just to address your point of not being able to run larger tires, you should be able to run 265/75r16 with no problems at all, especially on a '99. Not that you have to, just that you can. I stepped up from 265/70r16 last year and the small size increase made a big difference visually. (Also helped that I went from a road tread to an at).

I just want to add something to the convo....

I got a pair of All Pro 1.5 wheel spacers. Gives the vehicle a nice stance but the wheel studs on the adaptor are questionable....

Installation of the spacers to the hub went perfect torqued the nuts to the suggested 90 ft/lbs. Then I installed my wheels (steel rims) torqued them to 85 ft/lbs using a quality Snap On torque wrench. I might add I come from a family of journeyman mechanics and I def know what Im talking about. The installation and torque sequence was correct. I felt a little bit of stretch in some of the studs while torqueing them down which concerned me a little. Several weeks latter I got a set of new tires. I re-checked the adaptors while the wheels where off, and all the torque values were fine. Upon re-installation
of the wheels, I felt a little bit of stretch in the studs again. But to my surprise ONE OF THE BOLTS ACTUALY SNAPPED OFF!!!!!!:crybaby::violin:

Im going to contact ALL Pro Monday to see if They can send me some replacement studs. Do you think they would warranty this? anyway Im pissed
What the hell Should I do now????

The ones Speedy has in that video are not hub centric, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were cast metal and not machined from solid aluminum like the quality ones. I asked Discount Tire about not working on vehicles with spacers from seeing people mention it on the forums, and they told me as long as they bolt on like the Spidertrax/ All-Pro/ Bora/ Synergy, etc that they will work on them. Use Loc-tite to ensure that the lugs don't back off and you'll be set. No different than running a wheel with less backspacing when installed properly.

I got spidertrax 1.25" installed recently. I didn't torque the nuts just a tightened them with an air impact. I thought about torquing them but how do I do that? I need to block the rotor to keep it from spinning. Any easy tricks?

Definitely torque those to the specs listed, it's a safety thing. That being said, I installed mine with a friend pushing on the brake while I used a torque wrench and got them to spec.

If you have 99 tall springs you can run 275-70-R16's, I did it for 10 years with no issues.

This is what Bridgestone Dueler 275/70/R16 AT's look like with stock 99 springs & stock wheels.

So whats the widest spacer I can run on my stock 99, is it 1.25"? And will it rub? Also, since I have the limited model with fender flares will I even notice is it worth it? Im not interested in getting 265 75 16 tires because I just recently got new tires. thanks

Use the loctite on those studs too.
