When will the Bilstein 6112 be released?

my rear setup has settled 0.50" so I ended up with 2.0" in the rear.

Since you posted this, I'll CP what I posted in the other thread:

Off to Camp Pendleton to see my youngest boy so I can't post pics. However, I think it actually settled a little. I'll have to get measurements again. However, I dig the 6112s/5160s over all for our application. I can see where the 6112s might be a little soft for some (remember my FJ has Camburg 2.5 fronts and Icon 2.5 piggy/Superflex rears) but for a daily driver that sees some off road I think it will be perfect. I will have to get it in a little rough stuff to tell for sure. To be honest I'm a little concerned that the compression dampening might be a bit soft for the spring rate or spring rate it's self, but we will see. If you unload the suspension first, I'm sure its all good with max travel. However, if you hit a hard bump before the suspension unloads, I'm not so sure. For 99.9% of folks it will be a non-issue. Yet to be seen about the rest.

I will say that the 5160s are notably stiffer than the front with OE rear springs. Might be a bit over dampened. The front will glide around an uneven sweeper where as the rear wants to skip a little more that "just a solid axle" should. I may have to get a set of Superflex springs for the rear as I believe the 10% increase in rate MAY be enough to equal things out. I have no regrets going with the 5160s for the rear as that's a LOT of unsprung weight. I'm just thinking that the OE spring rate might be a bit soft for these shocks.

Anyone have a counter to this former Rally mans ass on the subject?

Installed my 5160's this afternoon.

Looks great! I see you mounted them the same way i did :) I wish the wheels didn't cover them up so much so you could see the awesomeness.

Still waiting to hear back about the 6112?

The only other way to mount the remote res was to not use the Billet Clamp and use the fixture that would mount the res to the frame, so you could see it....... still glad I used the Billet Clamps!

Glad Bilstein decided to include their shock boots with our 5160's!!! :reddance:

Looks awesome!!

BlacknTan **** Thank you sir!

I used Zeus' idea of flipping the label on the remote reservoir. Thanks again Zeusmotorworks!

For clearances of the remote reservoir to frame, here are the measurements I used:

Billet Clamp is 2 1/2" from bottom of decal at top of shock.
Top of the Remote Reservoir is 2" from Billet Clamp.

These measurements should hold true to 2010-2015 T4R's.
I used these after installing and checking for any clearance issues.
Once satisfied I was able to use Blue Locking thread compound & tighten everything up off of the vehicle, then install.

So finally got it in and aligned and with a full tank of gas here's the before (stock), and after with TP14 front driver spacer, 6112s set 4th up, 5160s with 1.5" top spacer, measured floor to fender (tape over hub for ref):

Stock:

Driver front 34 7/8
Passenger front 35 3/8
Driver rear 36 1/2
Passenger rear 37

Lifted:

Driver front 37 1/2
Passenger front 37 7/8
Driver rear 38
Passenger rear 38 3/4

So about 8 days later of normal weekly driving:

Driver front 37 3/8
Passenger front 37 3/4
Driver rear 38
Passenger rear 38 5/8

Not much going on there as far as initial settling. Then again I didn't expect much. Rear springs didn't change, and the spacers had already previously been used on her FJ. Front top end was reused on a 11mo 2014 so any compression settling in those parts was established as well... leaving only the spring for any potential movement... for the most part.

These showed up on my doorstep a little while ago. The reservoir measures dead nuts 50mm as advertised .. 1.970".

Pretty good deal on these ..

I had thought about 5100's for the rear, but eventually decided to go full bore.

6112's Installed

Status Report:

After seeing what the lifts were at the different spring seat circlip grooves, I decided to place mine on the middle groove and shoot for a 2" lift.
It came in at exactly 2"

Front L & R Side = 37"
Rear L & R Side = 37"

Alignment done...drives really good and nice ride quality with these 6112's!

Photos included!

I threw in a flex photo. Flexing in a small ditch...

oh... I almost forgot.... :reddance:  :reddance::

Saker, I assume you had the 1/8" spacer to level the front R & L perfectly?
my current lean is almost .3-.5" different and thinking about getting the 1/4" spacer

Didn't have to use any spacers.
The TP14 1/4" spacer will lift it 1/2".
I will probably return mine.

Overall, Im pretty pleased with the 6112/5160 setup. I do notice that there is slightly more nose dive with these setup compared to the Xreas.

Also I find the 5160 with the SAW coils a little bouncy. Probably due to the stiffer coils. On the road, when i go over a bump, I find the 6112 do a good job of absorbing the bumps, but the rears feel like they are bouncing around a little. Probably due to the solid rear end.

under normal condition, i find the Xreas nose dive acceptable to some extent and but noticeable and room for improvement. Some claim the 5100 improve the nose dive greatly but i assume none may be equip with xreas. Others have stated they don't missed the xreas with the 5100's. I was hoping the 6112 may provide of equal or better performance in the nose dive dept. As for the rear, the idea of it bouncing around a little may bother me. I guess, I'll just have to wait until and when I've install it myself and see the outcome.

Part of the nose dive maybe be due to harder braking that is needed due to the increased weight from the wheels/tires. It could all be in my head too.. :)
