Where can I get a Trail hood?

The only thing Trail hoods are good for is beaming focused sunlight right into your eye hole. Drives me nuts.

I don't know about cursing, but putting a fake hood scoop on a truck that has no functional need for it was kind of tacky on Toyota's part...and it does wiggle somewhat in the wind.
 
I'm in the process of getting a TE hood for my SR5. Found somebody looking to buy mine after he dented his. Excuse for a new hood for me and my bodyshop will paint it for $250.

I'll be selling strictly the hood shell and planning on reusing all my original hardware. My 2014 hood does not have any factory insulation(came that way from the dealer). Will I still need insulation for the TE hood? I presume the hoods are exactly the same minus the extra bits used to retain the scoop.

I have a Mag Grey hood that's in excellent condition if you are, or anyone else is, interested in swapping. It's on a 2010 SR5 that's been garage kept its entire life and has ~50k mi on it. Let me know and I can PM you pics

I don't think I can do it dude. It's becoming more and more likely that my 4R will be traded when the right used Land Cruiser surfaces. So I don't really want to deviate from stock much. Sorry.

Toyota has been doing this forever now, and across many of their cars (celica, tacoma, 4runner, FJ cruiser, TRD tundra). Fake hood scoops have become rooted in Toyota's U.S. style (Turbo diesel land cruisers over-seas do have functional ones). I don't lose any sleep over it, and in a way I'd be disappointed if the fake hood scoops went away (it certainly appeals to anyone who is a kid at heart).

Plus it adds 25hp. :zoom:

I'd be interested in seeing Ltd with a scoop simply because wheels/trim/different years have different looks. Same goes for sr5 and same goes for a trail wo a hood scoop.
 
One way to save on this would be to order an aftermarket body shop replacement scoop hood and then get the scoop insert and components from the toyota link.

I have the aftermarket 2014+ tails installed on my 2011 and it was considerably cheaper. It ran $280 for the complete assemblies with harness and bulbs.

They are cheaper now.

Looks like they have the hood for $127. Just need to get all the necessary accessories and have it painted.

Figured it can't hurt to see if anyone in the Texas, LA, OK, NM region (I'm in Dallas) has a TE hood that would consider a swap/sell. I used to have a 3rd Gen Sport edition with the scoop an loved the look. Its the only thing i would change on my "new" 5th Gen Limited.

I have a 2010 Limited in Mag Grey Garage kept with only 33k miles on it (yup... its LOOOWW mileage.) It has always had a clear bug protector on the front too so its in pristine shape.

If anyone wants to trade their TE hood w/ 'scoop' + cash, i am interested.
