Where can TE go that 4wd 4runner can't?

I am not familiar with 99s. Do they have a-trac? Atrac makes a world of difference, not as good as a locker but better than nothing to assist traction.

ATRAC didn't show up til the '01 models the year after they discontinued the locker and 5 speeds. With the earlier models it is a simpler straight forward hi/lo 4wd system but the Limited in '99-'00 had the multi-mode auto which had part time AWD which I would love to have. I've never had any issues in my truck in the 7 years I've owned it but ATRAC would be nice when it's slick out.
I offroad enough to get the benefit from the locker so I love having it plus it does help resale opportunities but that won't happen til I get a 5th gen TE.

I think that if you intend on leaving the vehicle stock with the exception of maybe tires then the TE is the way to go. It is the Trail Edition because it was set up from the beginning to be put on the trails. I do think that the "gimmicks" are less that, than they are equalizers. If you know what you are doing then you don't need them but if you are inexperienced they allow you a level of comfort with the help they offer. But there is no arguing that the TE has the under protection and angles desired by the off-road enthusiast.

I also disagree with the trim being swapped between the TE and SR5. I like the black and am glad it is only available on the Trail. However, I DO think that they should have actual Trail Edition badging that tells the world (who aren't in the loop) what it is.

Does anyone know where to find custom badging?
