Where do these wires go? 22-RE 87 T4R

We just swapped my blown 22RE with another and finished hooking everything up and are left with a green connector and a hot wire, The motor will not turn over and im hoping its because of these 2 connectors.

Both of these wires come off the harness in the center of the intake manifold

I'm lost I've spent hours looking at diagrams trying to follow these wires with no luck, the hot wire runs to the 30A am2 fuse and thats the computer I think?
:confused::cry::confused:

Top looks like the coolant temp sensor, front of the engine by the thermostat. Bottom one looks like an engine ground. goes on the intake manifold. (could be wrong on that one, but it looks like one I just took off.)

No its not the coolant temp cause thats located at the front of the intake and its plugged in, and its not a ground cause it sparks when you touch it to the intake manifold and its already grounded. im stumped lol i need someone with the same truck to go see were theirs is plugged into

On the front there is a coolant temp sensor. and a cold start switch. They are right next to each other. I guess that could be to something else. But I have a green connector and a brown connector that both look exactly like that, both are on the front near the thermostat. I'm still in the process of tearing mine down for the headgasket. If I see connectors like those I'll let you know. So far as the second. the only thing I've seen so far was a ground wire.... of course, that might be one of the many many problems I've got with my runner :)

the green plug goes to the VSV? it controls the fuel pressure (at least from what i could find out). being disconnected it leave the fuel pressure at max at all times. I dont think it will hurt anything. mine broke a year ago when doing a motor sway and havent noticed any differance or problems

I found a picture of someone with the same probably and it helps show the location of those two wires better

That picture is great. I can see exactly where I'm at taking mine apart. But you're not gonna like my answers :) The top on plugs into the cold start injector at the top of the upper intake plentum. (for some reason my connector is black) the bottom one, was simply attached by the rearward bottom stud for connecting the upper and lower plentums together, looks exactly like mine does. But like I said in my last post, if this is hot, that may be where some of my problems come from. I never checked to see if it was hot. (the hand is blocking where it attaches.) Hope that helps :) I'm trying my best I promise.

Have you checked the started wire to see if you have it hooked up? That could be the hot wire. The other looks like it goes to one of the sensors close to the thermostat area. Most of the time the plugs are color coded to the sensor.

I have a black connector in the center on my intake as well and its already plugged in, arrg! lol the green plug and connector are wound together as well if that helps at all and should this keep my truck from starting?

If someone can pleeease confirm that the bottom picture is a ground...lol I just did an engine swap and I have that grounded to the intake. I have been driving it like that with some periodic starting problems.

Yes I did confirm that the bottom one is a ground for all of the sensors.....whew had me scared there for a bit.

Alright I got that wire grounded, my truck is giving spark and getting fuel. no ignition though and my mechanic is stumped and the top green plug still hasn't found its home and when I get the block swap the new block didn't have a place for the knock senor so I just left it off, could that be the reason it wont turn over?

Green connecter plugs into the back of the air valve control (right under the lower intake manifold in the front and the coolant switches that you already have connected. It is back behind the valve. You will probably won't be able to see the connector, but its there.

And yes that hot wire is a ground that connects to one of the studs on the intake manifold half connection.

Okay, I had my 4runner towed to a different shop today and they said that the missing knock sensor is probably was causing my truck not to start. possible?

I doubt the knock Sensor would prevent the engine from starting. It may throw a check engine light, and run poorly, but should run.

Try plugging in that green connector and check your AFM connection. There are a number of things it could be, you may even want to just plug in the knock sensor (without it being screwed into the block) to rule out that option.

Just thought I'd post a pic I took the other day of mine with that first cable and where it is connected

I have the cold start plugged in, and I would take a picture but my trucks at a shop now and hopefully they can figure it out. as for the knock sensor the plastic part broke and I have no idea were it went so ill probably need to buy a new one

im looking to locate a connector exactly like that too but its not the coolant temp sensor; as ive got that one in already. it is the same colour and shaped connector tho.
and theres power to it.
please help!
