Which cabin air filter

Time to replace my cabin air filter. It is beyond filth.

I found this thread:

I don't want go through the hassle of picking up a cheaper filter from Home Depot and cutting it to size and all that jazz just to save a few bucks. I'd rather just buy.

I cannot find the popular recommended Bosch Cabin Air Filter F00E160176 for sale anywhere online. I tried Amazon, Oriley, etc. I see it mentioned here and there on 4runner websites, but do they still make this filter. Could not find it by that number on Bosch Auto Parts website either.

That's the one I use can find it almost anywhere.

I put in the same one a couple months ago. I haven't noticed a huge difference but honestly I've usually got the windows down and the HVAC off, and I probably won't have the A/C cranked for another month.

Seems like good quality and when I do have the windows up I haven't noticed any smells (indicating it's doing a good job!).

I got this one online at Autozone, delivered with other parts.
 
There is absolutely no reason to put any effort into a special cabin air filter. Just buy the first one you find and be done with it. No reason at all to put any effort into finding an elusive miracle filter.

I switched to these since I was getting the mildew smell from my heater, it works great as long as the recirculation is on

We installed these FRAM cabin air filters on our Runners too. Had them in for about a year now with no issues/smells. They had a $3 per filter rebate that I see is still going on as well:

How did people breathe before cabin air filters?!

But not to ruffle your feathers OP, a 3M filter cut to size works just as well as a $15 fram filter. And a $5 filter will make ~6 cabin filters. Can't beat it; it takes 5 minutes to make one including a 4 minute break. You can replace them more often for less cost.

i can't believe there is this many posts on a cabin filter LOL its a filter nothing special.

50 filter vs 50 cents filter guess what the same outcome it gets dirty you replace it still doesnt change anything else

i have to agree, i even used one of the ones with the wire mesh and i was still able to cut and put it in in under 1 minute. and as for that 4 minute break its just enough time to get a beer out of the fridge and find some more DIY things to do on the cheap
