How bad is this: I've had the green light from my wife to get a new stereo for nearly two years, since we moved 35 miles away from my work and my stock one doesn't light up anymore, and I still haven't done it. I keep spending money on other stuff - Tundra brakes, lights, timing belt kits... She wants me to do it!

My GF ads "jabs" here and there because she knows how much time and money I spend on my rig but she's pretty good about it. Other than the occasional comment regarding an engagement ring vs the cost of my mods.... I have been trying to get her out on the trail as much as possible though as it seems the more she comes out and wheels/camps with me, the more she realizes the value in the mods that I want to do. I'm not going to lie, she's pretty good about pitching in on mods for b-day or christmas presents, which I like!
And remember fellas' it's always easier to ask for forgiveness than to ask for permission. haha

Haha, how do you think I got my lift and rims? I never told her about the parts I was buying and randomly showed up one day with my lift on. It took her about 2 weeks to figure it out though. I did though ask for permission for a few things.

That part will go a long way. My Wife is currently wearing what my '01 cost on her ring finger. All I ever have to do is remind her of that. Done deal.

My "soon to be wife" hated my first lift (Tundra coils/ tundra shocks w/ OME 891s and Comfort Ride Shocks)
Hated my second lift a little less (Tundra coils/ 5100s w/ OME 890s and comfort ride shocks)
Loves my third attempt (Tundra coils/ 5100s w/ OME 890s and 5125s)
She doesn't like that she is wearing the passenger seat like the drivers seat every time she has to jump in the rig
That's been her only complaint, other than that she loves when I work on it. The taller it gets the better chance she has of getting the garage. It also keeps me out of the house.

My wife doesn't like that face that I haven't got her a 5th gen yet and she isn't quite sold on the idea of adding a supercharger. She did encourage the lift I put on last year!

she hates all the armor, she says it makes it too heavy and it hurts the gas mileage... this coming from a woman who drives a yaris... hell woman, id get bad mileage driving down a hill with a 80mph tail wind tailgating a semi without the armor, compared to your 45mpg yaris... but i know i wont ever damage things under the rig off road and leave us stranded in BFE or BFN(butt f*** nowhere). she also used to complain about all the lights, but then one time we went wheeling at night in the snow, and she found out just how useful they were, and wanted more -off to the sides so she could see out the side windows. i told her to buy me a bigger alternator and well im still waiting on that CS144

My GF hates that I took off the running boards. I told her I wasn't putting them back on, instead I was going to get some sliders.

4th Gen here, but I got to play along...
My wife loves my 4runner and everything I've done to it so much that I had to install some terrible looking blue underbelly LED's (they go on every time you open the door unless you know which fuse to pull) just to keep her in check. Now she hates the way it looks and I get to drive it again
She wont touch anything even remotely riced out!

If we lived somewhere where wheeling was an actual activity that could be done regularly, I might be able to get my wife to like it. And the asking for forgiveness instead of permission does work better for getting what you want....but way worse for keeping a healthy relationship. You only have so many forgiveness cards to use up and they realize you simply don't care what they think. lol
That's kind of how I've always had to operate. With my green truck, I don't know that she ever really noticed that it got taller and got bigger tires. She never drove it or rode in it. But with my current rig, it's my daily driver, and when I lift and tire it....she's going to notice. I'm still working on explaining $2000 worth of truck stuff when one of our bathrooms still needs remodeled, and she wants the house painted a different color. :boxer:

My ex-Fiance hated it when she finally noticed (6 months late, lol) that I tinted my front turn signal lenses and hates the stickers I put on the rear glass especially when I had a Shocker sticker on the back (was replaced with the Monster sticker) since she would take the truck to work when I had to work on her '00 Si and she worked at, at that time, a senior living community.

My wife really likes that I have a hobby and she appreciates all the blood, sweat, and hard work that I put into my truck. She even brags to co-workers and friends that I pretty much built my truck and have done all the work myself (which, for the most part, I have). She also really likes to drive it because she says everyone gives her the funniest looks because she is driving a lifted truck with oversized tires.
However, she doesn't really like my lift and tire combination because she she has to use the "oh sh**" handles to pull herself into my truck, but I just keep telling her to let me get some sliders and that will fix the problem. Also, she definitely doesn't like how much money I spend on mods for my truck.

The only thing my gf has complained about was it being harder to get in after it was lifted and with no running boards. Problem solved after I got my sliders welded on. Other than that, she loves it. I let her borrow it for a week when her car was in the shop and I was out of town. She said all she wanted to do was either run over stuff or ram things.
