Which OME lift is best for me ??

I am purchasing an OME lift and I can't figure out which part numbers I should get. I have a 2003 V8 4Runner with a Westin Grill Guard and I do pull a trailer every now and then but not a heavy one. Can any tell me which springs, struts, shocks would be best for me? Thanks for any replies

Here is the part number for a 2003-2008 V8 4Runner:

Front:

Stock/Light Load (0-110lbs)
spring - OME883
Shock - 139S

Heavy Load (110-220lbs)
spring - OME884
Shock - N140s

Heavy Load (220 - 330lbs)
Spring - OME885
Shock - N140s

Rear:

Medium Load
Spring - OME895
Shock - N141

Heavy Load (330lbs to GVW)
Spring - OME896
Shock - N142

Heavy Constant Load (660lbs to GVW)
Spring - OME897
Shock - N142

OME also now makes an 886 front coil. The 886s are for V8s with heavy accessories (ARB or Shrockworks bumper with winch - about 200 extra lbs). If you don't plan on modding to that extent. The 885 coils would be just fine.

If you are not consistently carrying heavy loads or towing, the medium rear coils are also perfect. The heavy rear coils with an empty load will be a jarring ride.

This setup is what I had on my V8 truck till I installed the 886 coils (for a bumper and winch) and it suited me perfectly.

Front:

Heavy Load (220 - 330lbs)
Spring - OME885
Shock - N140s

Rear:

Medium Load
Spring - OME895
Shock - N141

:iagree:

That was the OME set Up ran until I also upgraded to 886 front springs after installed a Shrockworks winch bumper. Perfect set up in my oppinion.

How's the ride?? I have heard that OME setup on the 4runners can be a bit bouncy with empty load. With 885 and medium rear, how does this setup compare to stock in ride comfort??

Has anyone tried the 883 fronts?

I've only found the 895 coils to be bouncy when going over things very slowly with an empty load, they just rebound quickly (I guess that's what word for it is).

Otherwise, they are excellent.

gkatmar-- Let me know the price!

I would like to know how much you paid for your OME setup when you decide on it.

My original OME setup with 885/895 coils and shocks was $744 + shipping. The 886 coils cost me $150 + shipping. Both purchases were from Slee Offroad.

Compared to the stock XREAS suspension the OME set up is bit firmer but I wouldn't call it bouncy. On the road it handles well and offroad it's a big improvement. To me the stock suspension was too soft for wheeling on rough roads.

Good info thank for posting! Sounds like OME setup is just what I am looking for. Will probably get the top plate as well from Slee so it should be a relatively quick plug and play install.

That's what I did with my original 885 front set up. Slee pre-assembled the complete strut so I just had to swap out the XREAS strut with the new OME strut...no spring compression hassles. When I upgraded to the 886 front springs after installing my winch bumper, I had a local shop that had a hydraulic spring compressor swap the springs out on the struts for me.

The guys at Slee are great at listening to your needs and truck configuration (V6/V8 etc.) and recommending the right spring set up to match. Like for me now with all the added bumper/winch weight, the 886 springs are perfect. With the stock bumper set up, they would be way too stiff.

I see you are running the 142 Rear instead of the 141 with the 895. What was your reasoning behind this and how has it performed on-road and off?

My setup will be installed on an 06 Limited V8 with nothing up front and that does have a little extra weight from the 3rd row seating in the back but they are usually removed. I do however haul my MX bikes several times per week with a hitch mounted carrier, open utility trailer, or occasionally with a 6x12 enclosed trailer. Could you comment on what your recommendations would be?

This is the setup I had been looking at:
Front:
Spring - OME885
Shock - N140s

Rear:
Spring - OME895
Shock - N141 or 142

Thanks!
Paul

I'm not sure why they recomended the the 142 shocks with the 895 springs. At the time, I assumed they were designed to be together. Now that you have other choices I would ask Slee what the difference is and why you would be motivated the to go to the 141's over the 142's.

To me, the 142 shocks and 895 rear springs seem like a good match. If you never did any towing or never loaded much cargo in the rear, they would be a little stiff both on the road over speed bumps and off road. With just a couple hundred pounds of cargo or an attached trailer, the set up is perfect. Even with a light load, and running hard off road I appreciate the current 142/895 set up. If the 141's are sofeter shocks than then they would be more comfortable (soft) on the road.

With no cargo at all, I have had people in the back seat tell me to take it easier over speed bumps because the stiffness impacts them more in the back seat. ;):

For the way I drive and the loads/trailers I run with, the 142's are great. :bigok:
