Hey guys,

I'm new on this forum, I just got my 4Runner about two months ago, it's a winter and camping truck for me.

There is a couple noises with that truck, I have been able to repair most of them, but there is this one that I really don't know what it could be. I put two videos on Youtube (See below).

So for the noise:
-Sounds like a whining noise
-Always start around 50 to 60 kmh
-it stops when going back under 30kmh
-The noise isn't related to RPM but more to the speed I'm going
-after between 5 minutes to 10 minutes of driving, it almost disapear, I still can here it a little bit.

and sorry for my language in one of the video, A guy with a Dakota almost rear ended me.

This video shows when it starts:

This video shows the loudest the sound gets:

Hope somebody can help me, I have searched on the forum and didn't find anything like this

Well after watching your Speedo jump with the sound, I am leaning towards the speedo and or your speedo drive cable is on it's way out.

Is your heater and fan all turned off to rule that out?

Do you have an auto or manual transmission? Do you notice it only in certain gears or all gears within that speed? Does it go away when tapping the brakes, get worse, ect?

Try and manipulate as many things as you can while driving and see what makes it better or worse.

Hey!!

So for the speedo, it has been jumping like that since I bought the truck 2 months ago and the noise started about 2 weeks ago!! So with this information in extra I don't know if it still could be the speedo??

and I try every single combination with my heater, fan, AC. Pressing the gaz pedal or the brake pedal doesn't anything either.

The noise really just change with the speed I'm going, doesn't matter what gear I'm in (automatic).

But I'll still check my speedo then, and if with all that new info you think it's something else, let me know!!

Thanks

but nevermind my last reply, I just check my video again and I never realized that the speedo was really following the noises.

I'll let you guy know if I fixed it!!

Thanks
