WhiteKnight Build - (Smallfry's rebuild)

Any recommendations on repainting a supercharger? This thing came from the east coast so the finish on it is pretty well shot.

I've done some search and haven't found much.

Media blast and powder coat or sand/wire wheel/paint stripper then rattle can?

Nice! Did you get that one off Car-Part.com? I'd just scuff it up and paint it. Should work fine and it shouldn't come off that easy.

New CBI rear bumper - only issues with was the holes for the license plate light are a little off and the spindle cover the holes didn't quite match up.

The bumper is setup to run two gas and/or water cans on the back the spare tire fits back underneath just barely (265/75/16).

Medano Pass

A few photo's from Medano Pass and the Great Sand Dune National Park. No real action photo's or video though I should've taken some of the creek crossings (water up over the hood momentarily).

The 4runner turn 200,000 miles years old on the trip.

Really the one trail shot.

Probable the hardest section coming from the east.

Made the 4-mile hike up to Medano Lake.

Slick trail near the top.

Medano Lake

As mentioned above no photo's from between the Medano Lake trailhead and the Sand Dunes. One of the creek crossings and the one I had water over the hood was due to ruts/holes in the middle of the crossing. Right before it was a large off-camber mud hole. Fun.

Great Sand Dune National Park

Taking a break over lunch.

Overall, it was a great trip and my first real run in 2 months. I had one major issue on the trip and that was with the new rear bumper.

The spare tire fits underneath until you flex out the suspension in anyway. All along the trail I heard some awful noises coming from the back as the track bar and the tire kept coming in contact ( removed the tire today and ya it rub pretty badly). The second issue I had with the bumper was the same I had with the last in the rear passenger side contacts the body when the suspension moves so I'll have to install some spacers again for clearance.

Not really sure what to do about the spare tire situation.
1. Don't run a spare.
2. Run a stock spare tire again but even that I'm not sure would clear.
3. Try to modify the track bar for clearance.
4. Modify the (old) swing arm to fit with the new latch setup and waste the new swing I got to carry fuel cans (waste of $$).

The supercharger is going to be put up on craigslist soon. Decided that I dont want to screw with everything needed to get it to work properly (meaning rebuild and 7th iniector, etc).

On the spare tire issue I think I got it fiqured out. In that im going to run a smaller tire. A 265/75/16 is slightly to large
. The 245/70/16 off my work truvk fit with plently of space so im think if I got back to the stockmsize it should give me anninch between the track bar and the tire.

Dont let the 7th injector scare you away... I want it as well, but my truck runs great without it! A little lean on Monument Hill at 75mph, but I do mtn passes loaded with a ton of gear all the time, and wouldnt be without it. Love my SC

I know your into long hauls, and with that being said I would be cautious running a different sized spare for a long distance.

It will get you by for a short jog up the road but if your 100+ miles from a repair or replacement I would be concerned with drive-train damage.

Ya, I'm aware of that. If needed I got a plug kit as well if needed.

Confession time: Been back and forth the past couple of weeks on whether or not I'm going to sell the old girl. I'm over my wanting for a GX470 (nice vehicle but doesn't quite fit my needs) but have been eyeballing 08-09 4th gen Sports (trails are like find a needle in a haystack) and 100 series Landcruisers again. I've past on a few but have chickened out. So my 4runner will be sticking around unless I can find an 09 Trail or cough up the dough for a 5th gen trail.

With that said current plans are as such (in no particular order):
Throw the supercharger on it that I bought - no plans for big boost and I'm not worried about supercharging a 200k 4runner since the engine was rebuilt last year (a little less than 10k ago).
Get the sagging headliner fixed - will be done next week
Redo my center stack and move CB - move my switches and put in a double-din radio
Either throw a set of Katzkin on or a set of wet okoles seat covers
Slowly replace the damaged interior trim panels
Extended the front diff and trans breather.
Figure why the 'crap' my heater works off and on.

Happy trails guys and you New Mexico folks if you see a mod'd 3rd gen passing though Friday/Saturday of this week that will be me on my way back to Arizona.
