Why would you go to a limited over and sr5

I was satisfied with what the premium and convenience package offered on the SR5 plus I don't need the full time 4WD as I only use it 10x a year (I don't even use it much in snow unless I'm really stuck which didn't happen during the first winter with this beast). Plus I was a early 5th Gen buyer and with two 4Runners on the dealer lot, they wouldn't budge on the 43K Limited price (I'd rather go the GX460 direction). So I saved myself 10K and drove home the SR5. As someone said, I really wish they would put a power rear hatch but I guess one less chance of a motor going bad in the long run.

My gf hated the ride on the SR5, preferred the Limited's ride much better.

Push button, keyless entry, JBL stereo,

Only gripe about the Limited is that running boards are optional and the ridicilously skinny tires. Chicken leg syndrome FTL!

I bought my Limited for several different reasons:

1. I had always bought SR5 trim levels and wanted to really go "all out". I was promoted to Engineer @ work so I decided to treat myself, why not?

2. I'm a Technology Engineer, so I LOVE all the new techie stuff (bluetooth, push button start, "sensor door handles", NAV [the huge screen for backup camera is awesome!], A/C plugs, USB connection).

3. The SOS system is only on limited. Knowing that SOS can track my vehicle if it gets stolen or when the airbags deploy is a nice safety feature and it actually reduced my insurance because it is essentially equipped with low jack. (More or less.)

4. I love the XREAS suspension. I've never had a 4runner with this, and to me, the mechanics behind it are just amazing.

5. Really love the optitron gauges, so clean

Just my 2 cents!

The Torsen center diff and XREAS suspension alone are worth the price difference. I had both in my 08' Sport and wouldn't be without either. I test drove an SR5 thinking I could save some money, but, IMHO the Limited and the SR5 are 2 very different vehicles. For me the Limited was the only way to go.

SR5 - what we found with the options we wanted was all we felt the need for. Definitely wanted 4wd capability but did not want it on all the time. Who needs full time 4wd anymore, unless you live in Alaska, when there's no more old days of getting out, locking hubs, etc. We actually like the way the SR5 drives just like it is.

The only thing we struggled with was whether or not to get heated leather seats as we had in the Jeep we traded. But we wouldn't have had to go limited to get that. I know the 20" wheels could have been changed if that was all that was stopping us but I definitely didn't want that. I have them on my Dodge Ram and, while they look nice, the tire options are limited and so is my towing capacity as a result. And, the tires themselves are more expensive to replace. Don't mean to offend anyone but I also didn't like the look of the 20" rims as much as I do the 17" SR5 rims.

Bottom line, it wasn't about cost, it was just about personal choice. I think both trim levels offer features that are nice at their respective price points.

Oh yeah, I wanted a limited, but did not think it was worth 6k. Missed the auto climate control for a while, now don't really care much. For $2500 I would have bought a LTD, going to spend the 6K on a bike instead.

never having to fiddle with the d@mn key, Optitron gauges, auto climate, the better ride quality, and some other reasons I can't think of.

Needs change... I started with an '87 4Runner after having an '81 pickup, both were SR5's and great wheeling machines. Changed the suspension on the pu more times then I can count, to meet my needs. Changed the suspension on the '87 4Runner once. Then I moved to an '02 4runner Sport (loaded) and my needs changed...never changed the suspension.

Now I have a 2010 Limited and know that I will never wheel it like my '87 4Runner or my '81pu. Needs change ... I am happy with my Limited and its Torsen, Xreas, navigation, etc. Yes, I did compare and thought hard and heavy about buying an SR5 and the premium package. Glad I decided to go with the Limited.

Full time 4wd with VSC is nice on Northern Iowa paved county roads with patchy black ice and blowing and drifting snow. Especially when pulling a 2500 lbs. duck boat. It also works well on 2' deep hard pack, if you lock the center diff and make a sharp turn and start digging down into it,.....you're done.
I liked the old multi-mode system in my 3rd and 4th gens, but that's not an option anymore, time to move on.

Traded my 05 SE for a SR5 W/Prem Pkg.

I just traded a 05 Sport with X-Reas for an 2011 SR5 W/ Leather
The X-reas was nice but it rode rougher and the new 4R IMO handles just as good if not better.Things I liked about old 4R, it was paid for, Reliability, hood Scoop, auto start, but not a big deal to hold key.Things I like with the new 4R over the old ! Seats and headroom in the new 4R was worth the switch for me, the Stereo in the new 4R is ten times better sounding than the old JBL and the XM and I-Pod HU with bluetooth streaming audio and USB.Things I miss in the old 4R, button on remote to drop rear window, hood scoop, remote oil filter was easy to get to, fold out tray front of console.I also like the all windows auto buttons on the new 4R.The only time X-Reas will come into play for me when it comes time to tow something, it kept the back end from sagging down.
