Will a Lift void your warranty

I searched this, but did not find anything linking a lift and voiding your warranty. Of course I dont think the search function is quite working right. The ole fun stopper wants me to ensure the lift wont void the warranty we just purchased.

I assume it will void certain things like the ball joints, but i assume its the same as any other warranty where the dealership would have to prove what ever it is i install was the cause of failure. Thanks!

You got it. It depends on the dealer too. Some dealers INSTALL lifts on new vehicles as part of packages and some dealers won't touch them and won't even think of warranty.

I think what you guys have is called the Magnuson-Moss Act to protect you.

One thing dealers don't tell you. They can choose not to work on a modified truck. Whatever the modification. Even if it's just wheels. If they are not comfortable with touching your truck, they won't. Kind of like a "no shoes, no shirt, no service". So if you have a warranty situation, they can send you off to another dealer. However, they can not choose to work on regular maintenance work, like trans flushes or brake jobs, and ignore any warranty issues. If they take one, they have to take the other.

Many times, dealers don't want to deal with lifted trucks because they don't want to ruin your wheels from taking them off. There are dealers in my area that won't work on a lifted truck because of the hassle of getting it onto their lifts. I had one locally that didn't want to work on one because of the per runner bar with lights. It was a pain to climb up and down over it. It was just in their way.

I have to second that motion.. People are quick to knock your for not "searching" but %80 of the time I can't find what i'm looking for through the search .

Wasn't aware there'd be a distinction. I'm in Canada so I only know a bit about Magnuson-Moss, something we unfortunately don't have.
