Will I Hurt my 06 T4R SR5 4WD? I changed my 17" OEM Wheels to 18" OEM LTD wheels?

I had 17" stock OEM SR5 rims on my 06 T4R SR5 4WD w/31k. I bought some nice 18" online from a 07 T4R 4WD Limited. Also, I went with raised white letter Bridgestone Dueller AT REVO 2's (new tires came out a few months ago)they look sick! They look mint and drive mint, I love the look and I love the Tires but a supposed Toyota Certified Mechanic was telling me the 1" change upgrade will screw up my speedometer and my abs and all that other stuff. He says it is bad bad. I read on here back in the day it was ok to do if I used OEM sizes and OEM wheels just from one trim level to another (Limited to SR5). Please advise I love my new set up but kind of stressing out over the guy trying to bum me out. Your thoughts and info will be appreciated alot. Thanks :shrug:

Nope you will be fine, what matters more than wheel size is tire size, and that being said, it doesnt matter much. I am running different wheels (same size though) and much larger tires than stock. I highly doubt this guy is a Certified Tech and if he is I definitely would not let him touch my car...

Now you can stop worrying and go appreciate your new wheels!

As long as you kept the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo the same by going to a lower profile tire on the 18s ( ie the stock 18" tire size ) you will be ok. Toyota does not put different speedos and ABS software in the different trim lines. You could even change the overall diameter somewhat without affecting the speedo dramatically. If you changed the overall diameter by one inch i don't think that's a problem.The ABS will only screw up if you don't use the same size tire on all 4 wheels. If all 4 tires are the same size the ABS will be fine. There are other people far more knowledgeable than me regarding tires and I'm sure some will chime in.

By way of example I went -1 on my winter set-up changing out the OEM 18" wheels and tires (P265/60-R18) for a set of 17" FJ wheels running P265/65-R17 snow tires. No problems with the set-up.

Many run 30.5-32" tires. There's a few running 33"+ with no abs or vsc issues. The speedo will be off a little bit. Just take a ride with a GPS and note the difference at a few key speeds like 30mph, 45mph, 60mph and 75 or whatever you like.

What's important to the T4R is that all 4 tires are the same diameter.
