Will Toyota step up to the plate?

And match GM's crazy 0% for 84 months financing? That might be just enough to persuade me to trade my perfectly good low mileage '14 for a newer version of what I already have. I might even upgrade in the process!

I wouldn't flinch to do this with a 4Runner. With a GM? Not hardly. You wouldn't be right-side up on trade value until about month 80.

Crazy alright. I wouldn't even consider a loan of 84 months for any set of wheels, no matter the rate.

Lets help put American's in bigger debt by helping them get loans they cannot afford.

I think even 60 months is dumb.

84 months!? 0% financing? Man, I sure hope this applies to all GM brands and models. If so, the Chevy Spark... she will finally be mine!!!

Looks like it's specific models, not sure if Sparky is included. Both Chevrolet and GMC have this deal, PLUS you can defer payments up to 120 days! Sure, why not? Drag the pain out even longer!

Buick and Cadillac appear to not be participating in such lowbrow shenanigans.

Regardless of what you're buying that car is going to depreciate more than you paid on it in those 84 months. I felt horrible taking my loan out for 72 months but I did that just because I'm in the process of selling my house and I currently own two. next month I plan on taking a large chunk of my home sale and refinancing to a 48-month loan.

Dumb question but what does selling a house a vehicle loan have to do with each other?

I've bought and sold couple and they give less of a crap when selling. Now vehicle loans and buying is a different story.

if you own a home or a car. With interest rates so low. refinance all your liabilities (loans). It will save you money.

Good advice IF you can knock it down a point or two. Factor in closing costs on refi of a home too.
Not worth it for me. Only debt I have is 3 years left on a mortgage. Very little interest at this point.
Gosh, one might as well just lease a 4runner instead of 84 month loan.

Why not? Figure out what the payments would be for a 36/60 month loan (or whatever you are comfy with and put the difference in the bank. That way you may be technically underwater (because you are paying o a 84 month loan) but since you've been putting the rest aside, you're really not underwater.

Well, I gotta admit... Toyota's 0% for 72 on Special Edition package has me looking at a Tundra tomorrow (will look at the Taco too, although they aren't offering 0% on those). Don't worry, my 4R is not going anywhere!

Been ogling them since last summer. Never drove one, so not sure if I'll even like either of them. But we'll see. If I like it and trade # on the Jeep is good, who knows? V8 and that back roll down window (like the 4R) might be hard to pass up.

I was going to use money from the sale of my house to put 15k down. Me house didn't sell as fast as I wanted so I bought the 4runner anyhow. My house sold last week so I'm going to refinance the loan. Plus the rate is over a percent cheaper now.

I personally don't think there's anything wrong with getting those loans, as they don't always offer the great rate on a shorter term. Just need to figure out how quick you can pay it off and what you're saving in interest on the truck... the Tundras are sweet trucks - I miss my full size GMC at times (2016 All Terrain, awesome truck and had no depreciation in 55K - also got at a hell of a deal)

Well, I went and did it. Got a SR5 TSS Offroad Crewmax in Galaxy Gray (same color as our 4R!). They came down just under 11% from MSRP before including the $2k off that is included in the SE discount W/ 0%/72.

The downside? I think I found something that actually gets worse fuel mileage than the Jeep!

But that V8 though... :driving: SMILES per gallon can't be beat!

Pic from my phone won't upload (too large, I think). Here is one I found on dealer website.

Sorry I read it as the vehicle loan was affecting the house sale.

Where are you guys seeing 0%? Now might be the time to add a cheap Tacoma to our work lineup. Toyota.com lists APR @ 1.9% and Tundras are .9%.

Also, does anyone know how the 2.7 engine performs on a basic tacoma.

Yeah, the Tacoma offer is 1.9%/60. On Tundra, the 0%/72 was limited specifically to the SR5 "Special Edition" package (I think I saw somewhere a notation of "TB", but I'm not sure what that is/means). I think Toyota had some 0% deals on a couple of their entry level cars too, but I'm not sure which as I wasn't looking for a car.

Just bought a Tundra myself. I didn't get 0% financing (6 years at 1.9%, I think it was - though I'll have this paid off inside of 2 years, making triple/quadruple payments).

What I DID get:

- lifetime engine warranty
- 100K tranny warranty
- 4 years - all maintenance covered
