Window Problem

Hey dudes, I got a problem with my window and I was hoping I might get some insight here. It's a 94 T4R with power windows. The passenger front window will not go up or down when I use the controls on the driver's door. The same window will go down when I use the controls on the passenger door but will only go up intermittently. This has left me with a window stuck in the down position on more than one occasion. Everytime it happens I have to pull the door panel off and reverse the wires on the motor to bring it back up. So I know for a fact that the motor works fine. It is an electrical issue. But I don't know which switch to replace, driver's or passenger's. Could both be broken? Any ideas would really be appreciated. I really miss cruising around with that window down. Thanks.

Sounds like the contacts in the switch are burned. You can either replace the switch assembly from a junkyard or if you're adventerous you can take the switch apart, sand down the contact points and put a dab of grease on the ends of the rocker, I used vasoline, and put it back together.

Disclaimer: I did this on a Saturn, so yours may be different. If you f*ck it up bad enough, just buy used ones.....

Had the exact same problem with my 92. Traced it to broken wires right in the flexible tubing between the door and main body. This was several years ago, but I think I had to remove the glove box to get access to the wiring harness. It was pretty much all the flexing whenever the door opened and closed. I was able to fix by soldering the ends together.

I only had a problem with getting the window to go back up (down was okay). But while I had everything apart, I checked the resistance of the connection to go down and it was kinda high, so I checked in the same area as the other wire and cut and soldered that wire too. Should be good for a least a few more years

Cost: Just the time open everything up and trace the broken wires.
