Window tint question

Reusing an old thread. After looking at a bunch of tinted widows, I am going for the Llumar ctx that everyone is bragging about. I want it more for the UV protection when I'm driving but it's ability to keep the inside from getting wrecked is a plus too.
I am leaning toward 35% but will see on Friday. I am getting the driver, passenger and moon roof done. Maybe a strip across the windscreen, but I am really tall and will have to see.

Just got Huper Optik 30 Ceramic on 2 front windows. Shop told me they would not put 20 on and that I'd have a hard time passing inspection. I'm debating if I want to get 70% on the windshield.

New to the forum, just thought I would add my first $.02. I was just at the tint shop today getting my 13' tinted. The rear door/qtr/gate windows are actually 27%, I had the guy measure it. Also, the front windows have a very light green coating on the glass, so you can count on a slight color variance between all the rear windows and the front two.

What did you tint the fronts with? I'm doing my fronts with 50% since that is the min in VA, but appears that if the got tested that combined with the OEM tint they would fail?

I'm doing a DIY tint job with Ebay pre-cuts.

Va almost had 35% passed in the state house a couple years ago, at the last minute police groups got it defeated.

If your asking me, I went with 20% on the front windows and the windshield sun strip. I'm also going to have him lay 20% over all of the rears, which should equate to around 5%. The factory green in the front windows will not effect whatever percentage you decide to go with. In Washington State either 30 or 35 is legal. I had 20% on the front, and 5% on the rears of my Tundra, and previous 4Runner, and never got harassed.

We get harassed all the time in VA. I've seen many people get tickets and have to redo because it was too dark. Especially in Henrico County, near Richmond.

I work in Henrico, you are correct.

Have a co-worker that got pulled for tint, got a DUI as well. He had just left dinner and had one too many, .08. That was an expensive tint job.

To those here who have tinted their sunroof: Have you had any issues? my uncle tinted the sunroof on his Porsche and because it was tempered glass and he lives in a hot, sunny climate, it wasn't 6 weeks before the glass basically exploded. Ours don't say "tempered", but I am still concerned. Has anyone had any issues?

I'll also say "yes". On my old 3rd gen, I had 20% film on all windows except for the windshield and sunroof. When all was said and done, my front's measured in at 12-13% and my rears at 2-3% (it was so dark that cupping your hands over your face on a hot day wouldn't even help you see in...I wouldn't recommend this haha).
Another note, I am from VA and while yes, legal is 50 front, 35 rear, every encounter I have had with the local fuzz have led me to conclude that so long as they can comfortably see through your windows, you'll be fine. my 3rd gen had a tan interior which made it much easier to see through. THe darker your interior, the harder to see in

Sorry for digging up an old thread...

But could you, or any one else from the Houston area recommend a few shops?
I saw your post in this thread, but they don't list Huper on their website. Reputable Window Tint in Houston

**Edit: They have actually closed shop, according to yelp.

I'm trying to get quotes for Llumar and Huper's Ceramic films.

Laubage, did you get the tint resolved to your satisfaction. Have any updated pics an type of tint the shop did. I am kind of OCD about my tint and it has a green hue to the fronts, I thought I could live with it, but it bothers me every time.

Thanks! I saw both their names come up when I searched their dealers, and was hoping someone had prior experience with either of them.

I haven't yet, I emailed most, but only heard back from the sun shield group. I also haven't sold my previous vehicle, so tint and a few other goodies are dependent on that sale.

Hey guys, I'm new here but I'd like to know if anyone knew of methods of getting illegal tint passed. I just had 20% put on my front windows to match the rear. I live in the Triad area of North Carolina if anyone knows of any shops that will pass it and look the other way. Thanks everyone.
