Window Tinting, does anyone like their windows tinted dark like me?

Tinted windows are ok in the south and west as they are actually functional in helping shield he tremendous amount of heat you guys get. Here in the northeast, its mostly cosmetic, and quite frankly a bit ghetto looking for me.

I work with someone who has retardedly tinted his front windshield.

When I was in NJ/NYC there was no need for them but in AZ different story. Just keeping the dash cool helps the A/C work better, one reason to own a dash mat too.

It really isn't that dark, it looks darker than it is because there isn't a lot of light inside the vehicle from the sides and rear. With that being said, I don't drive at night. If I did, everything would be a shade lighter. It also helps to live in a retirement community with golf carts darting around everywhere, the police don't mess with traffic laws too much, let alone older retired people.

A lot of it has to do with safety. Drivers should be able to see other drivers while on the road. Its important to be able to see the driver of the other cars at an intersection... to see if they are even looking at you/see you coming.

If you've ever driven a motorcycle, you'll know exactly what I'm referring to. Every intersection becomes an "I hope they see me" experience. If you can see the driver looking at you it allows you to move forward without necessarily hovering over the brake the entire way though an intersection.

It's nice to have tinted windows, but I don't mind leaving them untinted. I like to be able to see the other drivers.

If that was the case, then what about night time driving? It is difficult, sometimes impossible, to see another driver unless they turn their interior light on for you to see.

I do not think the "must see the other driver" is an issue at all, or at least an exaggerated one.

Yeah, they are bourgeois ghetto. I don't know what looks worse, a cracked dash or dash mat.

A dash mat...but that's neither here nor there. Those sun visors work pretty well too, but I don't think you can get them embroidered :fear:

I’ve had my MC license for many years……… I always assume other driver doesn’t see me!!! For me it’s better to be proactive than reactive.

I don’t disagree with your post, but tint shades 35% to 70% don’t affect your ability to see or be seen. Had darker tint in the past, like a custom Ford E-150 van, no windows, full custom interior, and 5% tint on D/P windows (ya, I was too cool for school). Talk about a beatch to back up at night, had to back down a one-way street with a 17’ boat, no street lights to get to the garage (telephone pole prevented pulling straight down). Since that experience I never went that dark again (D/P front windows).

i find it funny that people will complain about dark tint and not being able to see people, when there are tons of vans and trucks on the road that don't even have windows behind the driver and passenger seats. i wish i could get away with front tint, i didn't even think people tinted windshields. you'd get pulled over on your first day if you had that on up here.

Yeah, tinting the windshield here is a big no-no (and in my opinion just crazy anyway) but if you do it here, you are guaranteed a ticket. I don't think any LEO will let you slide on that one.

IDK how a dash mat is ghetto here n Vegas that fukker gets hot as hell & even with sunscreen it gets WAY hot & haveing seen many fukd up dashes here well nuff said ! Limo tint sucks stripped mine right out of 11' so I could see all the dummies with limo tint !

There are several states out in our neck of the woods where it is possible, with a medical prescription you can legally tint a windshield.......no different than adaptive equipment for people with disabilities. Know couple of people in CT, MA (MA has very strict tint laws), and NH that have done it without repercussions.

Certainly cuts down on glare during the day, but at night it's like installing tinted headlight covers.......at least a 15-20% reduction in viewable light with a brownish color. Sure it looks cool (kidda like how the manufactures advertise new vehicles), but after spending all that stupid money for quality LED's, I'll be damned if I reduce visibility one I owe ta.............. :lol:
