you do know that the lower % you go the darker it gets, you can barely see the tint at 50%

Yea i think i might just spend the extra 20 rather than waiting for the summer to roll around. also, since its a service that comes to you... do they do nice work? have you had any problems?
 
he did a good job. just remember that you cant match a tint to the factory rear windows. when looking at the sun through the car windows you will see a difference. the factory ones are a little more clear and the aftermarket ones are a little darker. like a shade. at night or when you dont pay attention to it you cant see it
 
how does it work when u want to add tint to rear windows...and they already have factory tint...how do they calculate how much to add?...i want to have about 15% all the way around...anyone know?
 
yes boss, i know that the lower the percent the darker the tint. that is why i said that the legal limit is 50% and I have gone darker with 35%, just roll down the windows and you should be fine.
 
I drove with a tint in Oak Park and around the city for years without getting flagged. Even got some speeding tickets but no comments on the tint. I think it's a gamble either way.

Has anyone got a ticket for tint? How much was it for?

Recently got tinted two months ago. $80 for front. Never got pulled over. Light tints though like 50%
 
I drive in the city and surrounding suburbs with 20%. Never been pulled over. Have had two cars now with 20% and never been pulled over (for that at least)

If you see them just roll your windows down a little

Moved from Chicago about a year ago. State law is 35% up front but CPD is short about 3000 officers so you need to really stick out to be pulled over for only tint. Chicago will ticket based on city code but will get thrown out if you cite state statute.

PA technically any tint is illegal but tons of people run it. Again never had an issue, but a GX doesn't really stick out either.
 
I got pulled over a few months back (i live in ohio) and run 5% tint on my front windows. He pulled a tint meter out and just told me it needs to come off. He was also stopping me for red leds in side markers and excessive exhaust noise so i think it's always situational. But i have incredible luck with cops. Been stopped around 23 times and only ever got 2 tickets.
