Windshield washer puzzle

Need some ideas how to solve this puzzle:
Couple random times while driving I’ve noticed that windshield washer doesn’t work. Rear washer works just fine. Just to give you an example, windshield washer did not work when 4Runner left its heated garage yesterday. But suddenly it worked just fine when I was driving back home after having 4Runner parked outside @ 23F for couple hours. Open windows is not an issue
Any clues?

I can give you my very recent experience FWIW.

My rear washers quit totally, fronts worked fine.

Dealer diagnosis is bad pump, new pump on order last Thursday, now waiting for a call.

As it was explained to me: the two pumps sit side-by-side, and they simply swapped the tubes to determine it was the pump and not tubing/spray head, etc.

I assume you've already checked for loose wires/bad ground etc.

I don't even know where the pumps are located, but maybe you could swap the tubes and see if the failure moves to the rear?
