Windshield wiper de-icer?

Can someone please message me their VIN that has a 2011 SR5 with de-icer so I can look it up my system. I work at a Toyota dealer and I want to get to the bottom of this problem. It seems as though Toyota's website shows the de-icer as a standard feature across all trim levels when it only appears to come on Trial and Limited models. I recently purchased a 2011 SR5 that will be here 04/22-04-28 and I'll be pretty pissed if it doesn't come with de-icer since it's shown as a standard feature. Thanks for your help!

Sounds fishy!I doubt anybody wants to just give out their VIN to you,at least I wouldn't give mine to some random person online.

If you work at a Toyota dealer you would think they would have VIN #'s they sold for you to look up and somebody like the manager would know if SR5's had the de-icers.

Any who..... Just look up "2011 4Runner SR5"on Ebay and they have 17 of them with VIN's posted on there for you.

bnekic- good luck. i brought this same issue up to my dealer and they told me to take it up with toyota corporate. I called corporate and they had no explanantion, and hid behind the statement at the bottom of the configuration page that says things can change without notice and they are not responsible for the changes. Let me know what you find out.

If you work at a Toyota dealer you would think they would have VIN #'s they sold for you to look up and somebody like the manager would know if SR5's had the de-icers.

Managers go by the information Toyota provides which in this case is incorrect. Anyway I e-mailed our District Manager for the Cincinnati region today so hopefully I can provide you guys some information about this. I recently joined these forums since I'll be getting my 4Runner soon and I'm just trying to help out for the common good of the forum, so I take offense to you calling me fishy.

Why wouldn't someone you work for give you a SR5 VIN?

How is somebody else's VIN going to tell you if yours has a front windshield de-icer anyways?

It's already been established that some have it and some don't for both model years.There has to be some common denominator there.I seriously doubt it is just random or luck of the draw of who gets one and who doesn't.

The questions to ask to help out the potential future SR5 buyers on the forum are what options or packages did those with SR5's WITH the de-icer have on their trucks and which of the 12 Toyota Sales regions they bought it in.Maybe it is a regional thing.

You are making no sense. I looked up all of our SR5's and none of them have de-icer. I also went outside to look at the windshields and none of them have it. Our one Limited has the de-icer but is not listed on the monroney label or our inquiry which I find strange. I just searched cars.com and couldn't find one SR5 with the de-icer so that's why I wanted to get a VIN from someone here that has an SR5 with de-icer so I can run an inquiry to see if that feature is listed. Also it doesn't matter what package you have on your SR5, Toyota.com shows the de-icer as a standard feature so the packages you have on your vehicle are irrelevant.

Every other Toyota model that has the de-icer has it listed on the window sticker under Exterior. Example below 2011 Highlander LTD.

Don't feel bad, at least you all have heated mirrors! The FJ's (all models/years) still don't. Now if there ever was a vehicle that could really use heated mirrors the FJ Cruiser is it!

Not on my window sticker either. Interestingly, I noticed it says "remote keyless entry w/ Rr window pwr dwn." Isn't that what folks are complaining about not having on another thread?

My 11 TE has it. Don't waste your money on doing it . It works like crap. I use the heater/blower windshield defroster and don't even bother anymore with the other thing .

I always thought that the de-icer was simply meant to stop the wipers from freezing to the windshield. I would think the interior fan defrost would work better for keeping them from icing up while moving...

It says in my manual not to touch certain thing because they get so hot ( or at least be careful ) I touched everything and nothing gets hot. It does work , just not as indicated . It's no miracle button thats for sure .

My 4runner has this, but mines a limited. I have yet to see an SR5 with that option in the South, but I shrug that off because I'm in the south. I turned mine on one time to see if it worked, thing got hot as hell and I haven't touched it since. It does work well to "de-fog" the window in some cases tho I've noticed. Kinda useful.

My 2010 TE has it. At the dealership other TE's had it, LE's had it and SR5's with the premium package had it. Base SR5's didn't have it.

I was pretty disappointed with its performance. The windshield still iced up. I drove a Subaru Legacy with the same feature and it was amazing.

I just bought a SR5 4x4 last weekend in Madison, WI and it comes with a windshield wiper deicer.

I just looked on my 2011 TR4 SR5 purchased in Pensacola, Florida. It does not have that feature. Possibly because we do not really need to de ice the windshield. (OK mabye a few days it gets below 32) Zi/
