There's a huge ongoing debate in the automotive world about Bon Ami as a windshield glass cleaner. Feldspar, the main ingredient in Bon Ami, is harder than windshield glass, but BMW and other car companies actually recommend the stuff (the original, not the glass specific Bon Ami, which apparently sucks.) Millions of people have been using Bon Ami for decades on windshields without a problem. I have regularly cleaned all of my windshields with it since I have been driving, never had an issue or noticed any scratching. I guess the key is don't lean into it, just use light pressure.
I would imagine of it was damaging the windshield, it would make the glass look kind of hazy or milky. I don't see that.

So zen master of windshield clarity...what size Bosch Icons do I need to buy? My OEM wipers are well past their prime. Looking on Amazon but they aren't showing a compatibility match.

Less like a zen master, more like a functional imbecile...
I'm 99% sure the sizes are 24" driver and 20" passenger. Pep Boys or one of those places can tell you the right size. The Icons come in different tension ratings, ie., how strongly the blade conforms to the windshield shape based on the distance of the pivot to the wiper motor. I think "B" is the strongest. So, if your wiper motor is on the passenger side, the driver's side will use the "B" rating, the passenger side "A."For the life of me I can't remember which ones I used. I may have used two "B's." I think differential wiper blade arc radius spring tension only matters to German people who dance to techno music and treat their BMW's better than their kids.

My OEM's only lasted about 3 months. I bought Anco, and the ends wouldn't even touch the windshield. I returned them and bought Dupont, and they chattered right across my window. I think the standard Bosch blades are crap. So I sucked it up and got the Icons. My wife has had her Icons for a year now, and they wipe just as good as the day they were installed.
I wish I could go with a cheaper brand. On my 07 TE I used to have the Duralast blades with the rubber coated arms for winter and they worked pretty good but lasted only six months, and I don't see them around too much. If these Icons last as long as my wife's I think they will be worth the cost.

Same with me. I've tried them all it seems and usually come right back to ANCO. Walmart is the place to get them.
Taking steps to "maintain" them helps them last a little longer. They have a simple but important job to do, and I've just found for the money they are the best deal.

I just replaced the front wipers with Anco Aero Advantage. Time will tell how well they will last.
I have a 2000 and am now changing the rear wiper for the first time. Actually the existing wiper seems to be fine but decided to replace all three wipers while on the job.
My question is the "side saddle" style of the rear wiper. Apparently I need a Anco side saddle adapter that costs more than the wiper assembly. Smells just a little suspect. Comments? Better solutions? Thanks.

For the rear wiper, I bought about 6 refills from the dealer a while back. I've found that they are just easier/less expensive to do that way than deal with aftermarket.
As I said earlier, for the windshield I use Anco most of the time - the cheap ones. That said, it seems I've encounterd my first bad set during a recent rainstorm. I happen to be on my way to Costco at the time and bought a set of the Goodyears. Of course, it hasn't rained since.
