So I've been looking into CB's, and have decided on either the Cobra 75, or the Midland 75-822. The two have been debated to death, pros and cons are on various other threads. I am leaning towards the Midland, but the only problem is it's hardwiring situation. I don't want to have to plug it into the cig lighter and the coax adapter, so it led me to think out of the box. I took a look at how the Cobra hooks up, and it is similar to a 5-pin XLR. From what I have been able to deduce, 2 of those pins are power, and 3 are coax. Wiring the power to 2 of the pins is easy. My issue arises when it comes to how they converted the coax from the antenna to the 3 pins in the connector to the handheld unit. I'm sure it may have something to do with how they were converted in the box that comes with it, but here is my question:
Is there any way to connect a coax cable to an XLR (or any other form) plug?
I'm willing to take adapters into account, or any other solution to my idea. I'm gonna be making a trip out this weekend, so if I can figure this out before then, that'll be awesome! Even if I don't install it by then I can still use the Midland in handheld mode, and install it afterwards. I don't wanna buy it then have to go with the Cobra though.
