Wiring PIAA 520 fogs question

I just bought PIAA 520 85W fogs and should get Defiant light bar next week.
I am considering two options on wiring PIAAs:
1. Install standard PIAA harness and use PIAA switch.
Question: where should I connect the “trigger” wire?
2.Utilize 4Runner fog switch; still use PIAA relay and run PIAAs and factory fogs together, controlled by the Toyota fog switch.
Question: where should I connect the “trigger” wire and what to do with three wires running to the PIAA switch (I assume that I would have to short couple of them together)?
What are you thoughts on my both options?
Any input will be greatly appreciated.
I cannot wait to see my new Defiant light bar. I asked Paul Fox from the Defiant to make changes in his original design for the 4Runner. This will be his new version of the light bar, specifically made for fog lights. Horizontal bar will be on much lower level.

Sorry someone had to do it. I was considering a Defiant Short with 4 520s across. Would love to see pics of the lower fog bar when you get it, could allow for a Satoshi Grill mod to be worth it since the current setup blocks out the grill.

Received email from Paul today. He has all parts from the subcontractor and will start assembly this afternoon. He is in CA and I live in New England.
I think that it will be at least 10 days before I'll get the bar.
I wish somebody shared their thoughts on my set up, LOL

If he makes it so it sits on the lower grill or even right across the part where the license plate goes below the upper grill (I would rather that and relocate the license plate) I'd definitely be a fan. Pics just help realize the visualization. Definitely a fan of the idea though. Plan on doing a similar setup to yours with the defiant short bar with 4 PIAA 520s (2 black ion crystal fog and 2 black ion crystal driving for the Cascades here in WA, logos blacked out). I think the slightly lowered bar would look pretty sweet, though I like the current one out there as well.
 
Just received Defiant light bar

I received a new version of the Defiant light bar this afternoon. The product is well packed and workmanship is just what you aspect from the American company. Paul Fox from the Defiant was in constant communications with me and since it is a custom made product, it took an extra week to get it ready. I am planning on installing of PIAAs 520 fog lights and the light bar this Saturday.
Since I did not receive any feedback on the PIAAs set up, I am going to install them as per manufacturer’s recommendations.
As I posted before, I live in New England, not too far from the ocean and driving once in a while in the low visibility conditions is a bit challenging. I am looking forward to test my new set up very soon.

I've owned two 4Runners now, so I search these forums just for fun. But I am an H.V.A.C tech, and electrical systems & wiring is my primary responsability....plus I installed "PIAA" fog lamps on my 3rd Gen 4Runner with no trouble at all, hoping I can help.

First, I wouldn't go tieing any wires together before you know what each wire is assigned to, wouldn't want to start a fire

Now, there's going to be a wiring diagram telling us what each wire needs to be connected to. the wires most likely should be "coded" with different colors, thicknesses or numbered, for the purpose of identification.

So if there is a wiring diagram, perhaps you can email it to me for convienance. If not, then you will need to describe, the relay, the switch that came with the kit, the harness,...etc.

I love thread this thread because of the reason that it got started.
A young man was requesting a little assistance from anyone who knew something about PIAA fog lamps/wiring.

He also happened to mention the other plans he had for his truck, "once he got his fog lamps installed & wired". But his primary reason for posting, was to find the help he needed with the wiring.

Well, I searched this thread to find out if anyone offered him help, but no one ever mentioned the wiring, so I offered to help him with that.

He sent me an email, thanking me for the support, and explaining that, someone he knew was already helping him with the wiring.
He also expressed how very much he loves being a part of the T4R forum team.

I guess I just don't feel great, when I see ppl putting pressure on him for the photos, saying, ...."this thread is useless without pics"
Maybe it was said jokeingly, or maybe selfishly, but viktor17 is really committed to this team, and if we ignore our responsability to the "New Members" concerns, then...why are we here???

Does anyone else agree?? rigtec, best regards.

The comment was not meant to be rude, I'm sure.

I have helped lots and lots of people on here, and originally helped Viktor with many PM's back and forth- which is why I stayed out of this thread until now.

Personally I think you may need to grow a set if you plan on sticking around.

Takes plenty "Hutzbah" to do the right thing, and often....you must do that "ALONE".

Hey Viktor, I'm not sure if rigtec was able to help you out, but a while back I installed 4 PIAA 520's on my Yakima rack and pretty much had to completely rewire them. I ended up using the Toyota factory fog light switch to control them independently so I can turn them on and off as I please. In order to make the install easier for anyone trying to do the same thing (or something similar), I created the following wiring diagram of what I did.

The 3 wires that run to the PIAA switch are a 12V+ power wire, a "relay" wire that carries power to the lights when the switch is turned on, and a ground wire. The "trigger" wire that you are asking about can be tapped into any 12V+ power source. It is up to you to decide if you want to connect it to the battery (where you can turn on the lights at anytime), an ignition wire (where you can only turn the lights on when the key is turned in the ignition), or a parking light/headlight wire (where you can only tun on the lights when the parking lights/headlights are turned on). I hope this helps and feel free to post any additional questions you may have.
