Sorry for the long post - A few months ago I left the ignition on my phone phone would charge while detailing. After 15 minutes the radio died out, windows wouldn't go back up, and when trying to start it, it wouldn't start. I let it sit for about 30 minutes trying to figure out who to call. The I tried it again for S**ts and Giggles and it start up without hesitating. A few weeks later I did the same thing. This time I was listening to the radio while I waiting in a parking lot. Everything dies after 15 minutes (roughly) and it wouldn't start, just clicked when I tried. I turned off ignition and got a bite to eat. Returned about 30 minutes later and it started. Now a few days ago while on a river ferry I turned engine off, removed key but forgot to turn off headlights, because I never opened the door the lights stayed on. When trying to start, it just clicked. That's when I noticed I left the lights on. Ferry crew had to give me a jump as I held up traffic getting off. After jump I drive 50 miles home with all warning lights on. Once home I turned off ignition waited a minute and started it right back up. Warning lights still on. I waited another 30 minutes and it started right back up again but warning lights were now off. WTH!? My battery is 3 years old, but if memory serves me well this happened with the original battery too I just didn't know and jumped it instead of letting it sit 30 mins. Who knows what is going on? Is this a standard thing to keep you from completely draining your battery?
