Worst nightmare realized!

So, my wife went to get groceries today. On her journey home our five gallon water container decided to get into a fight with a carton of milk. The water won with a KO in the first. Unfortunately I have not yet procured a cargo liner (only had T-Rex for about a month). So, I just got to spend the better part of the last two hours cleaning milk out of the third row seats. AAAAHHHHH!

Steam clean that sucker or your new car smell will be replaced with sour milk smell for eternity. I know from experience

And your worst nightmare is spilled milk? I wish that could be my worst nightmare.

Well, it's a situation I've been very concerned about and it happened. Steam clean is gonna happen ASAP. Unfortunately, I live in a little farm house in Belgium with no external outlets, outside lights, or garage; and it's been snowing. So no steam clean until tomorrow. Hope the smell doesn't set in. I got it cleaned up pretty well.

Anyways, my wife did shed tears and I told her that there's "no use crying over spilled milk."

One more awesome tidbit, I'm the DD for a work function tonight. Hope I don't have barf to go along with milk.

Hmm, I wonder if the freezing point of milk differs from water...? Cold is certainly better than warm, I think you'll be ok. Also sounds like you are a candidate for a generator...or perhaps try plugging the steam cleaner into the 4 runners' AC inverter!

From the "DD vs. barf" note, I had a nice dose of stomach flu a few weeks ago....a good, solid 10 days into ownership of my new T4R. Left work in a hurry to try and make it home before the eruption of Mt. Saint Anus, and was smart enough to take along a plastic garbage bag. (Stay with me on this one.......). Sooooo, then I could feel the upper plumbing system starting to back up and knew that I couldnt stop it..... Went screaming into my Credit Union parking lot at Mach 3, screeched to a halt, got out, ran around the front and blew some chunks into their shrubbery. SAVED THE CAR and the new car smell.

Imagine the look i got from two customers sitting in their cars right next to me witnessing my effort! Yeah, that was fun, but I refused to replace new car smell with barf aroma.

Good times......:biggrin2:

I just laughed so hard at this! Mt. Saint Anus. Hilarious

Hi MikeDUBS,

Waar in Belgie zit je op het boeren land? En hoe kreeg je een 4Runner daar?

Where in Belgium are you at? How'd you get you're 4Runner there?

Just a guess... probably pretty far off...

while i sympathize with your dilemma, if this is truly your "worst nightmare realized" you either lack imagination or suffer from a serious deficiency of Vitamin LE (Life Experience).

i'm sure the steam clean will fix you right up. give your wife a squeeze and try to relax. too bad you're the DD tonight—it sounds like you could use a drink.

Been down that road before in my ford bronco while in college. First step, soak up all of the milk and water. Second step, saturate the carpet with a cleaning solution (detergent and water, carpet cleaner, etc). Third step let it soak for awhile (10-15 minutes) but do not let it dry. Forth step, soak up the mixture using towels or a portable carpet cleaner. Don't stop until it is absolutely dry. You should be good once you have done this. I also used a little bit up of frebreeze just to leave a nice scent. Never smelled rotten milk after this.

no need to cry over spilled milk....lol:behindsofa:

Super-Tanker...

That sucks, it's gonna smell in there tomorrow.
Allow me to console you...at Flying-J truck stop they have a drink size called a super tanker.

It's around 64 ounces and is in a flimsy styrofoam cup. I spilled a Dr. Pepper filled Super-Tanker in mine (after 2 sips). it filled the cup holders, console and shifter. I can still smell it and there's no way to get rid of the stickiness...when you try and clean it with water/rag, it leaches from the cracks & crevices into the rag and makes everything sticky all over again. A worst nightmare.

OP in Belgium = seldom sober. I am not sure they have beverages with less than 6% ABV there.

I had to rent a milkystinky car once, it was the only rental vehicle with winter tires available after someone plowed their car into our winter-tire equipped car... because he didn't think he needed winter tires. It was awful - it was ten below and we had the windows open, which is better than landing on your side in a ditch, but not by much.

Spot on actually... a true guess or Google translate?

Okki

A mix of a guess and 3 years of German in High School (which I didn't think I learned a thing in but it sure came in handy today on the T4R forum :high5:)

And to OP- sorry about the mess! That is a fear I've had... and kid vomit (or any vomit)... (neither have happened so far, :fear:)

When my '88 4R was new, a gallon bottle of Clorox bleach escaped from a grocery bag and rolled/leaked all around the cargo bed. While the bleach smell eventually subsided (it took months), the cargo are carpet was destroyed.

Thanks for the some of the sympathy. This is obviously not my worst nightmare, just a headache I was hoping to avoid until I get a cargo liner.

Okki - I live about 45km southwest of Brussels. I'm military and actually bought my 4Runner over here through military sales.

Sandcrawler - got plenty of LE. Lived in 5 different states and 6 different countries (Okinawa was my favorite); I enjoyed all the unique opportunities that each place had to offer. I'm only 27. I've got more LE than a lot of people my age. That being said, I'm not even close to being done going after all the experiences I can get. The 4Runner and the world that it opens up being one of those experiences.

Thanks everyone for sharing your experiences, some of those sound pretty rough.

Ok, i call shenanigans on the title...there are way worse things that can happen to your t4r than a little spill.

Its a truck not a vw rabbit cabriolet...

You are a man..not a little girl...

man up! clean up...move on...

;)

ps: i laughed my @ss off when i heard my inlaws dumped a 5gallon bucket of honey in their minivan... and didnt discover it till the next day...ha..that's worse than milk.

One year around Xmas time my Beagle, Petey, decided to eat an entire bag of the holiday Hershey Kisses. You know, the ones with the red, green and silver foil.

We had to rush him to the Vett where they gave ole Pete something to make him vomit. I thought that was kinda funny because the dog would eat anything and not puke. Anyway, back to the story.

They had him in the back for a good 1/2 hour and proclaimed he: "Threw up more chocolate than they ever thought possible..." and that he was good to go.

Car ride home. Pete gave me a loving stare (presumably for saving his life) and proceeded to expel another pound of steaming, colorful Xmas foil laced chocolate sauce into my truck's center console and my future wife's lap.

Then, my wife threw up all over the dash. :)

It smelled like that until I sold it a year later. You NEVER forget the smell of chocolate dog puke. NEVER.
