WTH is this engine related noise.

Ok here comes the winning question, can I just replace the rod bearings (no point in just one). This assuming I mic the crank and make sure it's not out of round or gouged. I have my doubts about bad condition, because the bearing seems to only go side to side not up and down. I would guess about 1/2 mm of play, some moved less 1/4mm but they all did have some side to side.

Since you are already there, I'd check the bearings. If the clearance is excessive, they can be replaced, if the journals are in good condition.

As for rod side clearance, if it's between .15mm - .33mm, it's fine.

How would I go about it? This is a area of mechanics I'm not familiar with, while it seems simple enough, I'll need good instruction.

I pulled the wiggliest rod cap and here's what I found

Well shit, as my grandfather would say. Chance of lightly polishing the crank with 800-1000 grit by hand, then installing same bearings back in and running heavy weight oil for a few month until I can save for a JDM import replacement may be my only option.

Damn. how is the oil feed from the crank? clogged up at all? Might be why you oil pressure went. or a result of your oil pressure going. But I do know that the oil feeds at the crank are what make the oil pressure in the first place. What does the rest of the bottom end look like?

What do the journals look like? The bearings are softer, so they will show damage before the journals.

This means it's ground 10 over or so I believe.

The short term plan is to replace offending bushings as I mentioned and add the heavy oil with Lucas oil stabilizer (honey), and run until it goes. Spoke with a machine shop and got the correct bearings coming tomorrow. Hoping to button her up this weekend, and be back on the road. Need I mention I've been driving this way for a year and a half, and it has been making this noise for most of that time just less noticeable. Thank you ALL for your help and guidance it truly has been appreciated.

Slight crush on the deformed side with plasti gauge

Well that plan got shot to hell, cylinder #5 has abnormal bearing wear which caused a lovely ridge to form just inside the crankshaft wall on the journal. The odd thing was that the ridge measures within spec 2.155 +\- .001 of the others and runs out to 2.144 making placing a bearing on it impossible at best. Now I could pull the motor and have the crank machined, but what the hell for? I would be better off rebuilding the darn thing for good reason as this particular issue seems to be an oversight on the builders end. (Stay tuned for a full write up on my dissatisfaction with JIS engines of TX).

So at this stage a JDM Import motor for $1200-1300 is my best bet .....I think.
