Dude comon...seriously? Bullguard? Maybe those are also illegal since it hinders the OEM halogen light output also? Or maybe it just started blocking the light output since he put HIDs in? I would be willing to say your the guy driving the fancy wannabe sports car or hybrid always *****ing about everyones STOCK lights being too bright. Dont complain though cause your getting better gas mileage! :bigok:

I totally agree that projectors are great with HIDs. BUT not all OEM cars come with projectors that have HIDs. Did you know that? I can name one right now....Infiniti G35 Coupe. I can name others also.

I have a 2001 2500 HD Silverado also with HIDs. Guess what? Ive NEVER been flashed once and Ill tell you why. You CAN NOT just install HIDs without checking the headlight alignment afterwards. Clocking on HIDs can sometimes be different than halogens.

Now I will say this. I always like to see HIDs that are used with with at least a deflector in the headlamp assembly. That produces a better cutoff than without.

AND besides all this there is not ONE single aftermarket supplier that I would buy lights from other than Osram/Sylvania and they dont offer much. All the rest are junk.
 
Question: What size bulbs do the 5th gens take? I don't own one just yet, but I'm getting one next week. Hids would be my first thing to do and XD is having a sale.

Yes I know I'll blind people, I already do in my rsx. Any car that has HID output is more then likely going to blind someone, example the new escalades have some hardcore projectors and if you stare directly into them, you'll be blind for several minutes.
 
We used to use Philips ballasts in our HID kits however we phased them out several years ago. Philips ballasts are great for OEM HID applications however they are also designed for OEM HID applications. In OEM HID applications the ballasts are usually encased within the headlight protecting them from water and moisture. In aftermarket HID applications the ballasts are mounted outside the headlight where they are susceptible to water/moisture damage.

The Xtreme and Volt ballasts that we use in our kits are specifically designed for these application as they are epoxy sealed making them water tight.

Hi Steve,
There are not many Honda Accord's on this site so that's useless pic info,Apples to Oranges.
We would like to see the how sharp the cut offs are in the 5th Gen. Reflector lens. I'm sure there are some members here from the Toronto area who can try them out and give a true review. If they are as sharp as the Accord's then you would probably sell alot on here.

As far as the Phillips HID's,which many consider the best, I had them in my last Gen's projectors for 4+ years with no problems at all.The ballast were epoxy sealed and weather proof.I think I bought them off you on Ebay.

We stopped carrying them because we were getting a lower failure rate with our Xtreme ballasts and they were significantly less expensive then the Philips ones.

I am not saying that Philips/Hella makes a bad ballast. I am however saying that they are designed specifically for a certain application which is not aftermarket.

Install done

All -

I did my XenonDepot HID upgrade today. I also replaced my high beams with their 'upgraded' halogens.

As in any first time job, it was a learning experience. Suffice to say I could do it again in 20 min. per side.

I took some pics, and will work on a new thread for the install sap.

Initial reaction to the lights is good (daylight right now), nice and white, used 4300k Philips, no chance for nighttime eval yet.

Could you not just open the back plate and pot it yourself? I dont think Ive ever heard of anyone having a bad Hella ballast. Ive seen ALOT of knock off Hella ballast though even with logo and all but the plug is usually on the wrong side of ballast.
 
there is a plastic case that you can use to enclose the phillips ballast. as soon as i get them out of my corolla, i will post the pics up of them
 
We used to use those enclosures when we sold the Philips LVQ 212 ballasts. They do help significantly however we still found that moisture was penetrating the ballasts. The LVQ 212 ballasts have an internal seal but they are not water tight.

HID bulbs do not burn hotter than a halogen bulb so you do not have to worry about damaging your fogs. However, HID bulbs do emit high levels of UV which is why our bulbs use Philips anti-uv quartz glass to ensure no damage is done to your vehicle's lights. Lower grade HID bulbs often do not use proper anti-uv quartz glass and will tarnish your lights over time.

2010 4RUNNER with 5K H.I.D. Kit

I have been using this HID kit with no problems! They look blueish in the pics but are 5K OEM white bulbs.:hatsoff:
