For the 03-05 sr5/sport. I assume you can't make the odometer different than the background?

you can actually, its either 1 or 3 LEDs, depending on the cluster.

the LED just to the left, below the center needle/background LED is the one for the ODO. make sense?

Does anyone know where to get the Neo3 bulbs (white) for the HVAC? Superbrightleds no longer carry them..only the Neo3HP. Anyone have any extras they are willing to sell?

Thanks for adding the pic. Yea those are pretty orange. Anyone have any luck repainting the needle red? I'm wondering if with the white light it would be almost pink at night. Maybe painting with a dark red paint would help?

i would think painting them red would look good at night and not be pink. unfortunately the only way to know would be to scrap the OEM orange, but then at that point, you are stuck with either the red or white needles!

remember, if you go the blue needle route and do the white background, the needles will be hard to see during the day and may not show up as well at night due to a darker background for the white LEDs to reflect off of.

royal blue?! but that may get washed out at night with the white LEDs?

ultimately, i think its best to either leave the OEM orange or paint the needles white, nothing else. good day/night viewing with these two options.

but hey, its your truck, just throwing out my opinion to try to help you out.

EDIT: or you could just pick up a limited 4runner, then you could do white background / blue needles if it bugs you that much!!

For the folks dealing with the SR5/Sport cluster, you could always try something like this.

Fluorescent Speedo & Gauge Needle Restoration Paint - HiPo Parts Garage

They have several colors available. This might be the ticket to using white leds and still have blue (or whatever color is available) needles. This is something that I have not tried as my truck is a Limited.

Neo LED's

SuperBrightLED has the NEO3's in white, but says the NEO4's are discontinued in white.
Has anyone taken them apart? I was thinking of ordering the NEO4's in another color and take the bulb from a N3 or N5 in white and using the N4's base.
Think that might work?
They have the N4HP, but I don't want to do the 12v mod.

Any insight would be helpful.

I'm also curious about a solution for the Neo4 as well. I bought these from Amazon.

I was able to get this bulb to work in the 4HI/4LO switch, but they would not work reliably in the info display. At one point I had them both working, but once I put everything back together they no longer worked. Some would flicker a little and others would not work at all. I'm wondering if I got a bad batch or if the particular design of these won't work in the info display. It was a really tight fit with most and on some I filed down parts of the board the LEDs are mounted on.

I used this same vendor's Neo3s with pretty good luck. They also required some minor filing, but once they were in and working they stayed working.

^ those state for 12-14v applications. the info display puts out 6v. seems those amazon bulbs may be like the HP bulbs from superbrightleds, they dont work unless a 12v mod is done on the info display?

So now that the NEOs are discontinued and the 12v ones above won't work... what are our other options? All of the lights in my info panel have now burned out and I can see anything on it at all at night... Need to replace them ASAP!

Are all the neo3 discontinued, I thought it was just the whites for the neo4 standard bulbs?

They no longer have white at all. No 3,4, or 5 whites.

I've seen some other sites that have the neo bulbs with the 3mm leds in them, search around on google. Sorry, I can't remember the site offhand.

i think the neo4 bulbs still use a 3mm LED in it. I thought the difference was the bulb socket base OD, but i could be wrong.

so its clear, info display uses a neo4 bulb, but only gets 6v, so not all bulbs are PnP there.

i actually posted info on OEM replacement bulbs i got in the package of paperwork i received when i purchased my '05. search around for that thread.
