I love mine because I can drive through sloppy mud (that I never would have dreamed of driving through in my old Ford Exploder)

Acceleration is just right, but there is a noticeable pause between mashing the accelerator and the acceleration. When I press the accelerator, it feels like nothing happened for a fraction of a second, and then it opens up and accelerates like a bat out of hell.
My wife's Lexus ES does the same thing, so it must be a Toyota electronics issue.
[edit] - just to be clear, the delay is noticeable but it does not detract from the performance or my enjoyment of my 4Runner. I do, indeed, love my 4Runner.

When you park in a parking lot someplace far out and after walking off a way you turn around just to gaze back at it , all the while fumbling in your pockets like you forgot something so people don't think your a freak!
or.......When sitting at a red light and you see a cell phone come out of car window around you taking pics of the new 4Runner.
or.....true story ...back in December,coming home from work,a teenager was clearly driving with his knees and texting while holding up traffic going about 50mph. This was in the fast lane on the interstate while passing an 18 wheeler up a hill and I'm right behind him. I flash my lights one time and he looks up in the mirror and goes right back to texting with both hands.
When I finally have room to go around him on the the right and I'm pissed by now after following him about a half a mile, so I floor it getting up to at least 85-90mph or more. Little did I know a state trooper was stuck back in that traffic behind me and followed me as I was speeding away ,without his radar on mind you , as I have a V1 radar detector and not a peep and so I had no idea he was back there. He follows me and finally turns on his lights and pulls me over 5 miles ahead after I get off on my exit.He gets out of the car and slowly walks around the truck checking it out with his flash light before coming up to my window.
I'm thinking big money speeding ticket here!First thing out of my mouth after the obligatory cordial "good evening officer" and excuse for my momentary lapse of reason about the moron who was texting was "how fast was I going as you didn't have your radar on ?" His answer , Not sure but I do know you were speeding as I was following you at more then 80mph but I just wanted to look at your 4Runner so I waited to pull you over at an exit .Ended up giving me a verbal warning to keep the speed down , then me showing him around the truck like I'm a salesman and giving him my ph # to do his future lift install for him as he said he 's buying a TE in the next couple of months.
No ticket at over 90mph,Only in a 5th =Priceless:bravo:

im going to pull the trigger tomorrow and get a 2011 black sr5 or limited not sure...my friend owns the dealership so if he gives me the limited for what he pays bamm!!
I was so undecided for 2 weeks between a taco or a frontier or the 4 runner..but being i will never need the bed of the pickup..( just wanted the trd super charger lol) i decided on the brauny badd ass aggresive look of the new runner,
maybe an exhaust and intake for her for starters.....ill be seeing u guys often
