06 Toyota 4runner build! (lots of pics)

I've posted my car on here a few times but just recently thought about making a thread showing you guys what my car has transformed into from the first day that i got it.

What i have done to the 4runner:

Exterior:
Hid's 6000k low beam head lights and also fog lights
3 inch revtek suspension lift kit
20 in kmc xd hoss wheels wrapped in nitto terra grapplers (wheels rub just a little bit when i make full turns. i didnt cut anything to make the wheels fit)
darkkk tint. i believe they are 10 percent. i have gotten pulled over twice for these and no ticket yet thank god. lol
vent shades
tow hitch
Hornblasters outlaw series train horn! =) this was my latest mod and i love it ha. so much fun!!!!!!

Interior
Pioneer double din head unit with navigation
1 15 inch fi bl subwoofer powered by a hifonics amp.
Viper alarm with remote start.


future mods:

I have recently found out about plasti dip ( i know, im very late) i am going to do all the chrome parts on my car. im thinking about to doing everything but the toyota symbol and leave that chrome.

also i want to change all my interior lights to led. ive seen a thread on here that made the dash lights white... i would love to have that done. i just dont know how to do that and dont wanna try and just mess it up. ( if anyone down in SOUTH FLORIDA knows how or knows where i can get it done that would be greatly appreciated)...... also i am gonna change my headlight and oven bake them and turn the chrome pieces to black. i think my car would look a lot better with everything black and white....

also install my rearview camera

Nice looking 4runner, can't wait to see the stuff plasti-dipped!

I've recently been introduced and I love the stuff. If you need any tips on doing the door handles and the rear hatch handle piece, let me know and I'd be happy to help.

Edit: If you haven't already, you'll also want to take a look at Trevloc's build thread for detailed instructions on the rear hatch piece and links to instructions for door handle removal.
 
Also, have you thought about blacking out your headlights? I think the blacked-out headlights on white look extremely good.

As far as the plasti dip goes, any help is appreciated. I've never done it before but I've read a few threads on it and it seems pretty easy. I just the think the door handles would be the hardest to do. Lol.

As for my headlights. I really wanna get them done and the only thing that is stopping me is time to do it and the fear of messing up lol. I don't want anything to go wrong ha. Any tips on anything is appreciated

Plasti-dipping is really easy, and the best part is that it's cheap and reversible! But be warned! Once you start its hard to stop! Start out doing your emblems first so you get the feel of how to do it. If you need help almost everyone here knows about this stuff, i think that plasti-dipping all the chrome on your rig will look awesome since it's white and your rims are already black!

Plasti-dip is pretty easy - it fills in well and it doesn't run unless you go nuts with it. The front door handles are cake, the rear door handles are a bit harder, but still not bad at all. All it involves is taking off the door panels and unscrewing the door latch mechanism to move it out of the way, in order to access the door handle screw.

I just did my headlights today with black engine enamel and they turned out well. However, it's not as easy as some would make it seem. Taking apart the two halves is the most difficult/nerve-racking part, with the second most difficult thing being disassembling and reassembling the headlight after that point without breaking any fragile plastic tabs. However, just heat the headlights long enough on the first go-around (I did 10 mins at 275) and use an appropriate (i.e. large) flathead screwdriver to pry the halves apart. For the second point, just take your time, be careful, and make sure the plastic is cooled down before removing the inner insert and doing any further disassembly. I definitely broke a few fragile plastic tabs, but they didn't really have too much effect on how everything went back together (only thing is that the insert is a bit loose now, but not bad at all). I did this with a spare set of headlights, though, which made it quite a bit less nerve-racking.
 
Hey mike. Search lj 24. He has custom led kits. I just ordered mine they r coming in next week type it in the search n it will take u to his thread.. dude his lights r mad bright.

Lol ha Ive always wanted train horns but your likethe first one I've seen with them on here.

Thanks, autbonds runner is the one I wanted it too look like. Well not look like but loved the way yours looked. I was surfing the site before I started anything on my runner and was like wow when I seen your runner. That thing is amazing man. Awesome work! That thing is so mean.
 
Really like your ride... Im curious to see it after you plasti-dip some stuff... I have an 06 white... I figure I can get a pretty good idea of what stuff looks like by living vicariously thru you LOL...
 
Thanks man, I really appreciate it. It's not mine any longer, but the kid that has it now is enjoying it so that's all that matters. I will own another 4R in the future and build it better next time. Yours is coming along great!
 
not too sure about the company of the vent shades... i believe they are auto ventshade co. lol ha yeah im foreal too haha thats what it says on the side. they are stick on with 3m tape that was on there.

yeah i am gonna get to plasti dipping probably before this week is over. ill def post up pictures when they are done to show you guys.

autbond wow... its gone now?!!! how much did you sell it for? and Y!????? lol whoever got it was very lucky.

oh yeah.. im installing my rearview camera up tomrorow! yeahhhh!!

Mike, I'm debating about getting a 12" or a 15" Fi Q. I've heard great things about Fi Car Audio.

Is your Fi BL sealed or ported? Did you choose the Dual 1 or Dual 2 option, and how do you have it wired to your Hifonics amp? How many watts RMS are you giving it?

Can you take a pic? I want to see what a 15 looks like in the trunk. Thanks in advance!
 
After a day or two i finally finished. this is what it looks like ...

i also got some scratch x and headlight restoration kit.

as for the system question. its a dual 2 ohm powered by a 1600 rms amp.

next thing i wanna do is my door handles.

does anyone know if i should plasti dip these since its being touched daily and might wear easily? and when i do it i should take them off the door? if there is any tips on how to turn my door handles black that would be great.

also when i decide to man up and finally do my headlights should be in the near future also lol.

overall im happy with the outcome . this was my first time ever painting anything and it turned out ok. i would give it a 7/10. theres little spots i missed here and there but you cant really tell unless your really up close. The best thing i like about plasti dip is that it can be torn off and done again. haha
