Anybody running these on their 5th gen? I'm looking for a budget priced black, hub centric wheel to run 285/70r17s. The price is definitely right on these. Not sure what the backspacing is though. I have an sr5 with the 17x7" wheels, but I'm told my current wheels are too narrow for 285s and I need at least a 7.5" wide wheel.

17x7.5" wheels on Trail Edition and SR5
It's hard to find the specs on the Toyota site but if you look at Edmunds review of the 4Runner for the Trail Edition you'll find the wheels are 17" x 7.5". Both the TE and the SR5 run the same tires so I gotta think the wheels ar the same size. The SR5 is 17" 6 spoke wheels" The TE is "17" 7 spoke wheels" according to the brochure. Check Edmunds.com for the T4R SR5 to verify this.
I don't see an advantage for buying another wheel/rim the same size other than appearance.

285/70/17 fit no problems.... Can't beat the price for the wheels for what they are. I have about a inch and a half from the control arms...

many have done it with no problems. just too close for my taste, my guess would be about a half inch away from hitting. you should be fine.

Question, how in the hell did you get the center caps on? The 4Runner hubs leave no room. Did you make any adjustments to make the fitment work?

They fit with no issues. They were designed for the FJ Cruiser which has the same hub hardware.

Sold my TRD wheels and bought two sets. Dropped one set off this morning at the powder coater to get the "darker grey" color as seen on the new production 70 series.
Black set is on there now, 285's no issues. I do have a Toytec / Dobinsons setup though.
Color for second set:

I do not believe they are stronger. Wish I could remember where I saw the spec.

Steel is more malleable, so if you get a rim bend, it's easier to hammer it back and get you home than an alloy. 29.5 lbs is not bad- factory snowflakes are about 28.5 and TRD/OR are about 29.5. Finding center caps for those steelies looked difficult.
