1999 Limited radio help!!!!!!

Okay so let's start things off with some questions..... I work as a tech for Toyota here in Colorado and I'm losing my mind so far..... So am I right when I say that the runner came with a base radio option and a JBL option in 1999 available with the limited option correct? If that's true, then I am at a loss because on TIS at work, I only have one option for wiring diagram and that is for a radio with an integrated amp.... Reason I am asking is because I have a limited and I swear that my amp is not integrated with my radio and is located above my center airbag ecu under the radio... I am trying to install a new deck and new speakers and I know that I need to bypass my external amp if I do due to resistance issues correct? I am installing a kenwood deck and want new speakers also... Please someone help with any info.

All Limiteds use External amp setups. In fact, the only 4Runner I have ever seen without an amp was a base base model 2WD. Everything else is external amp. The good thing is the plugs that plug into the amp are the same as the radios with integrated amps, so you can get the $6 ebay plug kit and wire your aftermarket radio up so its plug and play. The old amp unplugs from the OEM deck and unscrews from the dash easily.

Fwiw, I have 5 limiteds I am parting out and none of them have a JBL system. I am 99.9% that wasn't a thing until maybe 2001, or 2003

Just installed a kenwood deck in my 2000. The plugs going into the amp are the same as the typical toyota radio harness like mentioned above. I just unplugged the amp and used the generic harness.

Very simple.

Ok thanks guys, that's what I thought but I haven't had time to pull it apart yet so I just wanted to make sure that I had everything I needed so I can just do everything at once.
