1st water crossing for my baby

Do 4th gens have an extended rear diff breather or do you have to mod it like on the 3rd gens? Or do they have something else to keep the water out of the diff?

tkr128 - ya 4x2. this trail is easy, there was one of those big vans back there when i got there. but really fun and worth the trip.

this trip was compared to her bouncing... :girl: very nice.. =)

Glad you found it and enjoyed it. Looks like the water was lower than when I was there. Did you do three separate crosssings and did you go to the hot spring for a dip? Did you walk a mile or two up the trail to the other springs?

Rear diff breather is an easy mod. althouhg not necessary for this type of crossing. If you stopped midstream in a depth of the running boards then I'd be getting the mod done.

I did the mod. but have yet to need it.

This trail is definitely 2WD friendly and new truck friendly. There are a few small areas off the side of the road where you can check your flex, but overall just a really nice days outing with some light offroading.

I'm so jealous of all you SoCal'ers. I was just out there last month, loving life away from D.C. Started @ a wedding north of San Fran (Sea Ranch) and ended up w/ friends in Redondo Beach by the end of the week. I need to move. I did make it out on Pismo Beach and gave my rental (Ford Escape) a good thrashing. God, I missed my 4Runner. Can't wait to come back, w/ my own truck. However, rentals can be fun too.
