2001 cranks wont start

Keys not chipped on SR5/ theft protection?

I have a 2002 sr5 and I doesn't have chipped keys.....

So found out all SR5 4runners at least 3rd gen Do NOT have transponder keys.

Only Limiteds in these years have transponder in key.

Rechecked fuses and my starting problem was blown ignition fuse. My guy first missed it didn't look blown... I guess girls can fix things,lol :dance:

Truck fired up woo hoo :clap2:

Now I need to make sure thieves don't come back again, any thoughts on best way to protect car if they have a key and on a budget?

Change ignition cylinder and just have 2 keys? Will I run into any problems changing out key?

Congrats on finding the problem sorry for leading you on a wild goose chase. I personally if they are going to steal the vehicle they are going to get it new keys or not. I would save the money personally

Good for you for finding it.

Use a meter, test light, or swap a known good fuse. Full stop.

Don't use That guy anymore.

Anything is "stealable" but on a budget I'd try an ignition kill switch, discussed ad nauseum on this site, just search. Luck.

Yup I found out they didn't use ,so I started checking with extra replacement fuse and found the blown one! Grandpa taught me that one with my first Scout.

Will check into a kill switch. Happy camper here, truck purring now :bluejump::bluejump:


Local locksmith wants $150 for new ignition cylinder/key or to rekey $110 for ignition if removed, and another $250 to rekey doors (3)
