Well it seems that the 10 Speaker JBL amp does not have the voice input... I just tried wiring it..

SHIT!

So I am gonna try a 10 speaker Sienna Nav amp..

Hey joe any updates on your progress with this? I want to order the same mic as you but do not know how it looks like and if its worth the amount you paid as opposed to buying a generic one. And how is the whole thing with the RSE working out.. can you take a pic of both if you got a chance? thanks

Im not sure if you can use a generic mike this time since it has circuitry... supposedly a mic amp built on board..

I havent had time really to play with anything this week..

Maybe next..

video/audio aux assembly

Hi J0e;

do you know if this video/audio input assembly (and the right side switch and microphone switch) will work on my 05 4-runner limited w/ Nav and Rear seat radio?

i have been looking for an audio input so i can install a dvd player using the jbl system.

thank you much.

Well the input of audio and video has to go thru something with a RSE Controller, or the display in the front will NOT go into a video mode.. and the right side switch will work.. Since I did it in my Dads 05, the only thing I havent tried with that is putting the 06 switch (with the bluetooth fone) buttons..

Well I was WRONG. I installed a Sienna amp, and no voice came out.. So I double checked my wiring and the wire had a cut in it.. I tried the stock 10speaker amp and it DOES have the VOICE input..

This diagram is CORRECT. A Factory 10 Speaker JBL does have voice inputs.. I also did it on my Dad's 05 4Runner, and that also worked with the Sienna Nav.

Oh Video is coming soon... I got it to work today... but couldnt install it neatly... The easy way to get video on the nav unit is using a RSE controller.. You can find them in Sienna's and Sequioa's with RSE... I bought one on Ebay and tried wiring it.. the video will play in the front on the 06, with the RSE controller, and parking brake down..

But I think I am done tinkering till the new year.....

J0mama, can you break this down a little for those of us who aren't as technically proficient?

You are saying I can get the solara nav voice sent through the JBL amp if I just hook up pins 11 and 12 under the R10 connector on the nav to pins 22 and 23 of the s22 connector at the amp, right? So, what is the "shield" that pin 13 should be connected to??

The shield is just the metal around the two conductors to stop it from having noise...

Thats it.

Cold you give a little more detail on the parts you used? With my current setup I don't have a shirld.

I used two connector wires from a computer cd-Rom connector as suggested by OEMVALUE. I hooked up one connector to the 11 pin under the R10 connector, and the other one to the 13 pin. I then connected these to a Radioshack amplified speaker. The 11 pin is connected to the input, and the 13 pin is connected to the shield.

This works okay, but doesn't sound good. I've been looking \for a different speaker. Connecting to the JBL amp would be cool, but my current setup would not have a shied or ground.

I found a cable with two wires in it (red and white) and it had a metal conductor around both wires... I used the metal conductor as the shield, and ran the other two wires from headunit to amplifier.
