UPDATE: THE CABLE FROM eBay WORKED! I installed it two days ago and no problems so far. F'in FINALLY!!!

Great news on the 'missing' cable!
Now I just need to wait for the prices on the ipod HU's to start dropping. I'm hopping that since it is becoming the standard Scion HU for 2008, that the prices will drop down to around $50 - $60, like the cost of the current standard HU's on EBAY.

I have an '04 with an older T-1804 Scion HU.
I just got an iPod as a gift from the wife and read through this thread. As a Recap, what are the exact parts that I need?
T-1806 or T-1807 (or does it matter?) Note: I have no satellite or plans to get sat radio.
Or is there a newer one that's a better option?

Have a question, and yes I am new here. What if I ahve the Scion HU with one knob that just has the AUX button and not an IPOD button.... I just want to use that AUX feature to plug my ipod in for better sound than a FM modulator! anyone know where to get THAT harness?? I have been looking and looking soooo please help!

that radio should not be the one that is ipod capable... that is aux input capable with the headphone style jack but not the one that has the ipod jack or ipod software.
the ipod one has two knobs on the front, one on either side, and a button in the middle where the knob is on this one.

that much i knew... this one has no IPOD button like the two knob, only the aux feature.. which is all I want becuase I would like to plug my sirrius into it and my ipod without having the FM modulator way.. so back to my original question... where can I get that AUX harness? is a junkyard the only place? if so, anyone feel like helping a guy out and seeing if there city has one cause Nashville does not!

Could you call arounf to JY ounside your area, where they pull, and have them ship it to you.
Or you could just buy the scion radio that have the ipod port.
I paid $70 for my harness, but it included the ipod ad the aux.
and I paid $95 for the radio.
If I were you, i'd look at the different radio, rather than the harness.

I may have posted on here before. Its such a blur with so many Toyota sites these days..so, I think this is my first post.
Like many of you, I have been all over the net, TTORA, Yotatech, Customtacos, etc..trying to get good install info for the Scion radios. I even joined a few Scion sites to get some knowledge.
Anyway, it looks like this board has it all figured out, but I wanted to point out one thing I found out today.
The aux input cable is not part of the ipod cable, or at least it was different in the car I pulled the assembly from.
If you are in the Austin area, the 07 TC at Cap Imports no longer has the cable..its mine.
Without making a long story about how I found this out, here's what I think to be true.
The Aux cable from the headunit also has 4 wires that go into the dash of the SCion to control the steering wheel controls. The ipod cable is present in Scion models that didn't have the scion stereo. Its there, its just not being used. That was the case with this one.
I salvaged the Aux cable from the HU to the console switch, and the ipod cable from the HU to the 2nd cable, PT546-21061, but since it didn't have an ipod radio, this cable was not there.
That's all I need to make my system work.
anyway, if you are checking salvage yards, look at all of the newer scions. The cable might just be there.

Attched is a diagram of the splicing of the Scion AUX harness and the Toyota harness.
The Scion Harness does indeed connect to the Scion radio and run it's self behind the dash, so it will have to be cut out.
But splicing mine together, I am able to play a DVD player on the AUX and the ipod on the ipod connection and flip between them with the AUX button.
This is only for the SCION radio with two knobs referenced in the thread.

I hope I didn't cut the wrong wires! The wires you show for the scion are the wires that I ended up cutting free. They are still there, but I cut them.
Those wires started running behind the steering column, that's why I figured they were for the steering wheel controls.
The rest of the wires from that plug go to one connector and then to the console connector for the aux.
There's even an extra 12 volt socket that is connected to this gaggle of wires.
When I went back and got the actual Ipod cable, it was all together from the head unit to the connector under the center console. No cutting to free it.
This is going into an 03 Tacoma, so we didn't have steering wheel controls as an option. However, I have thought about the idea of going back to the Scion and getting the steering wheel to see if it would work.

edit...so I got worried and referred back to that scionlife thread and found this:
"OK, so there are several different shape connectors for the connection of the ipod harness. The radio has a 16 pin connector that has one shape. From there to under the center console is the other end of this harness which is also 16-pin, but a different shape. The ipod jack harness that comes with the radio plugs into this, then the customer cable plugs into the jack. Whew!
The 16pin connector behind the radio has a part number which is 90980-12423, but is not available yet. It's just the connector and does not include the metal terminals inside. You can get these at your Scion dealer, but they are about $3 a piece. Now, the other 16 pin connector under the console is available and is part number 90980-12155 for about $7. You need these two connectors plus terminals to make your harness. Your looking at about $110 just for the freaking connectors.
If you want to utilize the speed compensating volume and add the AUX jack, you will also need the 20pin connector that also connects at the back of the radio. That part number is 90980-12259 and is available. You'll need one terminal for the speed compensating volume (to tap into the speed signal) and 4 terminals for the AUX jack if you choose to do so. The steering wheel audio controls also go into this connector, but since I don't have that steering wheel, I obiously won't be hooking that up.
