i dont get it either jason. it seems to me that the japanese automakers are more conservative than the germans.

dont get me wrong, because i'm not saying the halogen projectors are bad. they perform better than reflectors, but they're just not for HIDs.

Actually there is the way to exchange 2005 to 2006 headlights just by swapping headlights and trim pieces under them. Wondering how? Simple, if you have a brush guard, it won

You will probably need to paint the new pieces under the headlights to match.

I honestly don't see the point in changing them unless it's an easy swap. Our 4Runners already have 'projector' fog lights, and our headlights work great as is. Now if the '06 headlights were xenon or HID, then that would be reason enough for me to make the change. But I doubt the light output is that much different than the '03-'05.

that's where you ADD HIDs to it. Its not that hard. HID=lightbulb + ballast. This ensures that there's no unnecessary glare coming from people that put HIDs into their stock multi-reflector headlights.

Yes, I think so too, but it's so difficult, they are small and I can bring them to any paint-shop without leaving the vehicle there.

Put SilverSTARs in them.. and I guarantee it'll be a WHOLE lot better. Or.. HIDs for added hotness. =)

Yes, it's funny, non hid projector ususally looks more yellow than a stock halogen headlight. If you look at the older LX470's, they have that same type projector in the headlight, non HID and are pretty dull.

i agree. halogen bulb in projectors = really bad lighting.

This is just another instance of Toyota changing something that may "appear" to look better, but may not be as functional. Newer isn't always better it seems. I will admit, they "look" nice.
