2010-11 First pics. Real but camo.

Finally pictures!!

I find this exciting although I have no plans to replace my 06. I just hope it's not too georgeous for me to want one :D
 
I don't see how anyone can draw positive or negative conclusions from the vagueness of the pics. I just want the new 4Runner to be sporty but still have some semblance of off road capabillities of it's predecessors.

Still offering the diff lock and offer a 5 speed would be a few wants of mine with a 5th gen.
 
I'm not convinced just by one Web site that the next 4Runner will be a 2011. Even members on this site who work in the parts industry have confirmed a new 2010.

Over on Edmunds, here is what someone else said who attended the 2009 New York auto show:
I went to the 2009 NYC auto show. No one at the Toyota display would admit to knowing anything and of course, no 2010 4Runner was on display (they did have a white 2009 model).

The other thread here claimed that the white 4Runner on display was a 2010, which just didn't make sense. No company would display a 2010 model in April of 2009 that was just a carry-over from the current year. Think about it....how would they have a 2010 if they weren't built yet? Toyota is not going to have a special 2010 model built if there are no changes from a 2009. That just does not make any sense.

I live about an hour South of Detriot. I've seen quite a few test vehicles being driven "under wraps" on I-75. All were for vehicles coming out the very next Fall, not two years prior to being released. If the picture that was posted is the next 4Runner, then it is being released as a 2010, unless Toyota is releasing it early in 2010 (example: Releasing it in February 2010 as a 2011).

I'm sure we'll be seeing the "unwrapped" version in the next few months!
 
Actually most car companies debut the next model year as early as the previous spring so if Toyota had a 2010 4Runner it would be on unveiled real soon. My '99 was purchased in Sept '98.

I agree. Of course it was not a 2010 at the show...in the form of the same body style. Toyota releases ALL information on everything they release prior to actually having anything out for the public to view on their own website at pressroom.toyota.com. People on this board are making way to many false assumptions/statements. Nobody has any real data until Toyota releases it.
 
From the pictures, it looks a more boxy. Also, if you look at the headlights, I don't think it has projectors anymore.
 
So I'm sure I will be flamed for this but here it goes.
I am concerned with what the size of the next gen will be, so I did some math and based on the pics here is what I came up with. Remember these are not exact but it should be interesting to see how close they are.

2011
Wheel base= 117 in.
width= 66 in
Ground clearance= 9.64 in.
length= 183 in.
height= 68 in.

compared to...
2009
Wheel base= 109.8 in.
width= 75.2 in
Ground clearance= 9.1 in.
length= 189.2 in.
height= 71.1 in.

I thought I would share these. I think this is promising as I was hoping that the next gen would be smaller. I calculated these using things in the picture that have a known size as reference. They are close but not exact.

not flaming...just observing

The wheel base got longer, but it also got narrower and overall length is shorter?? Am I reading that correctly? That would be very interesting as almost 10 inches of width is quite a lot considering the weight and height of these

Yea, I'm not sure what to make of these numbers either but from the pic, which I think we all agree is very limiting, the vehicle seems to have some changes. I for one will be excited just to get this over with and know what it looks like and what to expect.
 
Looking at the poor quality spy shots, it looks VERY similar in size to the 4th generation. It doesn't look any longer. The only increase appears to be headroom, which is the only thing the current model is missing.

You are almost describing a 3rd gen 4runner with those predicted numbers! The only difference is the wheelbase. BTW, there seems to be a consensus that the longest wheelbase on a truck-based SUV is 112 in. There are exceptions, like the new Sequoia (122 in.). However, all the major players seem to follow this 112 in wheelbase. My G500 is 112. My brother's LX470 is 112. The new Land Cruiser/LX570 is 112. Everyone seems to be stuck on that number for fullsize body-on-frame SUV. Weird huh?

Back to your numbers, those numbers are almost identical to a 3rd gen, except wheelbase...and from the pics, i do NOT think that the next gen will be as small as a 3rd gen 4runner. It will either be the same as the current 4th gen or slightly bigger.

BTW, the ground clearance of a 4th gen is NOT 9.1"...it is 8.3". Now, if you add FJ Cruiser springs, then it is around 9.1".
