2010 4Runner Auto windows question

I was trying to contact my dealer to see if the automatic window feature can be defeated? I dont like touching the up or down and having it go all the way ! My dogs dont like it either. Does anyone know if this can be changed? Referring to side windows, not tailgate. Thanks

There's no need to change anything electronically. You just need to change how you press the button. If you pull up on the button, you will feel a slight stop. If you pull up on the button and do not go past that slight stopping point, you can control how far the window goes up. Same thing goes for putting the windows down. Slightly press the button before the first stop and you have complete control.

Now if your dogs are activating the switches, you should press the lock button on the drivers side so they cannot activate them.

I am disappointed with the window locks in the 4Runner. If you lock the windows, no one can operate them, not even the driver. In my Yukon, if the windows were locked, the driver's window controls still allowed you to operate all of the windows. Sometimes with the dogs, I need to quickly roll up the back windows :shrug:

Apparently Toyota has this flawed implementation of the power window locks since they offered it. My Mazda (and I know Honda) are like your GM, the lock out doesn't apply to the driver controls.

A look at a wiring diagram for the windows may shed some light on whether a fix can be done so the driver's switches aren't cut out when the LOCK button is depressed. It might be as simple as a shunt around the LOCK button.
