2010 Limited

I test drove a 2010 Limited and I noticed that the engine is kinda little noisy (more like a diesel engine noise) when the car is idling.
It only has 35k on it

Is this normal?

Also the tires are stock, are they good in snow or should I change them to something else (they are about 60 % more thread on them)

Anything else I should look for?

Also I noticed the the bottom of car is a little rusty (michigan)

Also . My understanding is the Limited is all wheel drive all the time. Can you turn this off and have it like the SR5 on demand 4WD?

* Yes

* Depends on what you consider "snow". With FT 4WD, you could be OK, but with 35K, "60% tread remaining" would seem pretty optimistic on oem tires. Give it a try when it snows, then you'll know.

What is the point of the 4wd control in the limited if its 4wd all the time.
Can someone please explain in details.

H4H = High way mode; this is your normal driving mode.

H4L = locked diff but higher gearing. this will drag a tire when making a (tighter) corner due to the diff locking. Use this when crawling through a badly plowed road or muddy trail. You should not stay in this for normal driving.

L4L = Low range and locked. Use this for having (slow going) fun on the trails.

Keep in mind you have to be stopped and in NEUTRAL to shift into L4L.
