Wow , I paid 34,500 plus tax and registration or so for mine new back in 2010.

Nav was not available in my area So Cal but I do have KDDS. But the way the safety Nazis clamp down on their Nav it was okay so I went aftermarket. Mine only has 20K miles, perhaps I should sell mine and snag another.

BTW, for 2010 folks, i upgraded my NAVI disc and surprisingly, it also upgraded the USB smoothness!! It also no longer automatically play the first song when you scroll. This is on 2010 Prius, which i am sure is similar to your system.

Sorry, i meant that i have Gen 6...first came with 9.1, then upgraded to 10.1.

just a follow-up on this subject: i upgraded the Nav on my 2010 TE to U92 Version 10.1 and it DID NOT "upgrade the USB smoothness" and it still auto-selects the first song when you scroll. :redbrick:

Seems high. I just picked up my 13, TE with Nav and kdss for slightly more. Interest rates are really good right now too, 1.9 for 60 months.

I was hesitant about factory Nav, (because of comments on t4r.org) but I love it so far. Kicks the crap out of the old Garmin we were using.

Good insight, thanks all. I have contacted 3 different Toyo dealerships in NC and no one I have talked to has the least bit of knowledge about the Trail Edition. I was told that there would not be a single 2013 4Runner TE shipped to NC dealerships which I suspect (based purely on logic) is not true. I am becoming frustrated with the quality of support I am getting from the dealerships. My recent test drive of an SR5 was lackluster as best with the salesperson being completely ignorant of Toyotas in general. Is this consistent with other dealerships? I drove a Range Rover Sport the same day and the rep there was an enthusiast and owner who knew that truck forward and backward and demo'd it impressively. Based purely on my month of dialog regarding the TE, I am inclined to consider something else. Is this truck really that awesome (sincerely)? I've been in a 2003 H2 for the last 120k miles and have been quite pleased there however it is time to find something newer and perhaps a bit more practical. Thanks!

It looks like this thread got lost in an endless Entune / NAV discussion and nobody responded to your last post.

I also found the the Toyota sales people knew absolutely nothing about the TE. I couldn't find anyone at the numerous dealerships I went to before purchasing that knew what KDSS was. Toyota's web site wasn't much help either. Since I didn't know what it was I didn't pursue a vehicle that had it, so I don't have it. I think Toyota is dealing with a significantly different clientele than Range Rover and it shows in the caliber of their sales force. Plus, since TE's are so rare in most parts of the country the sales people don't put any effort into learning about them.

As for the TE really being that awesome, it is a very capable off road vehicle out of the box. Look at it as the difference between a garden variety Jeep Wrangler compared to a Rubicon. From the factory it is much more capable and with some pretty simple mods it can do almost anything and go almost anywhere, while still having all of the creature comforts of the other T4R models. You could get to the same off road capability with an SR5 or LE, but you would be spending a lot more money in the aftermarket to get there.
