2011 LE for 2014 GX

The old: 2011 T4R Limited with nav and 3rd row
The new: 2014 GX 460 base with nav and f sport wheels

My limited was a sweet spot for fuel economy and comfort and purchase price, but the GX scratches a certain itch. I have now owned (all 4x4) a pickup, tacoma, sequoia, GX 470, T4r (2), FJ, GX 460. The FJ and 460 remain today. Merry Xmas all!

Congrats! GX is an awesome vehicle. I have been looking at used ones for a while. I have the same conflict....the 4Runner is more practical for my purposes, but there is something about the GX.

those are very nice. too bad its way out of my price range since I wouldn't settle for anything less than the luxury version.

gotta have the heated seats front and rear if I am going to splurge :)

congo rats to you :)

$52.2k + TTL + $299 doc fee. Basically $2k over invoice for this vehicle. But keep in mind that they are selling before hitting the lot in UT. There are no vehicles to look at or drive. For me, this was a better value than a loaded 2104 limited which was my other candidate.

Gorgeous car! I made the switch to a GX (air ride, crawl control, etc) as well and have zero regrets (other than the fact I bought it used with 50,000 miles on it). Kinda wish I went with a new base level one because I don't use any of the "premium" features I so desperately needed at the time. The GX is kinda weird looking, doesn't turn any heads like my Limited 4Runner but it's just a great truck.

Thanks. Yeah, there is a consensus among those that don't appreciate the BOF and toyota/prado heritage that it is an ugly dinosaur. I could not be happier. Must be an expensive proposition up there in Canada!

Nice GX! I like the look of the face lifted gx for sure but I do not like that the new look decreases it's off road capability with horrible approach and departure angles from the pre face lifted models.

Agreed. The nose is just too long and doesn't need to be and the hitch would be an anchor on a rock... It will be interesting to see real builds and use of these in 5 or 10 years.

That thing is gorgeous...I like the new body style and if and when I ever get rid of the 4Runner (several years after it's paid off), I'm probably going to pick this up since I'll want more of the comforts and luxuries and probably not desire to take it places where it'll get scratched like I do now with the 4R

Congrats and what a good looking rig. What color interior did you get? I am considering the GX right now. I'm thinking about the white with Sepia interior, but I'd like to see the sepia in person first.

Out of curiosity what does your leather look like? Does is have the alligator look on the sides?

Very nice truck - I do like the body style.

Would y'all answer me some questions please?

- The rear gate operates like a door vs the 4R's liftgate - yes?

- How do you owners like this?

- premium gas, right?

- fixed rear glass too, right?

- how do you like the Navi?

I too will be upgrading next year due to a need for third row seating. I'm trying to decide between the 5th generation 4Runner and the GX460. My wife drivers the 4R and I have a Lexus IS350 and I love it. Than's why I'm leaning towards the GX but the 4Runner would be easier on the wallet.... decisions, decisions.

Barn door on the back with glass that will unlock with the fob or with button on door. The barn door will not unlock automatically if smart key is in your pocket; this was not the case with the T4R LE and a bummer. Might be configurable but I doubt it.

I like the barn door, but there are masses that hate it. Much easier to open than the lift gate, but snow comes in when loaded up top.

Premium gas. Without me asking dealer said lexus said mid grade is just fine. Prob is. I'd guess that is what the dealer put in that first tank, but really do not know.

Glass opens per pic above.

Nav is great so far as is general tech suite. For example, while driving you can say an address aloud and it will load it up and get you there. It worked on my single test and that is huge. You don't get prompted for state, city, street, you just say it all, say ok if it figures it out, and keep driving.

Things I have noted so far:

LED drl and low beams are amazing.
No a-trac which is a bummer
Crawl control in the top model only
KDSS is standard on all
DAC is also standard
Great smooth power and butter 6 speed - love it
It looks like the lunar lander at night with lights that light up running boards and entire bottom of truck
Lights in interior door handles and under each seat; everything is lit, and I know there have been complaints on this board about this
Michelin OEM is the first marginally acceptable tire I've gotten on a new car
Roof rack seems to force you to go lexus cross bars as my Thule have no chance of fitting
NuLuxe synthetic seating surfaces looks and feels great; time will tell...
Wife has plans to make it hers...

If you got the Nu Luxe, that means the leather in the premium package has the alligator look. IMO the Nu Luxe looks better than the leather that comes with the premium package.

How much did you pay for the F Sport wheels?
