My TE front end has a knock/rattle noise when driving over pothole roads, whenever you get it rocking side to side and turning right into the driveway etc. Its only got 3500km but it sounds like something in the suspension or KDSS is loose? Anyone experience such a noise?

Thanks

Rocket, you are not driving a Cadillac bud, it is a 5K LB body on frame 4wd truck. It will rock and roll, making all the noise one would expect as it flex's to and fro. Notwithstanding that overstatement, are you still running OEM tires, shocks/springs etc? If so, you are experiencing "body roll" and all the noises that come with it. Maby too much. It can be reduced to a minimum with some great modifications. Just start searching! Good luck and be safe.

So far just upgraded the tires to duratracs. stock suspension. This sound just started up and I'm just wondering if its possibly the KDSS normal sounds. Planning on lifting it 2.5 up front so I dont wanna have it rattling its brains out.

Check to make sure your wheels are not loose. Sounds like that may be your problem.

KDSS shouldn't make sounds, might check the KDSS mount bolts and the sway bar LCA anchor point. Good luck

As I read this, I was thinking of something similar .... many of us have had tire stores break lug nuts...

Yup broke one of mine last weekend. Well broke the stud, not the nut. I wish it was the nut. I am still waiting for their repair shop to get the part in.

Called dealer .. guaranteed they would be able to find it. Local dealer sucks for me .. love toyota product/hate dealer. Wash board stuff and its more rapid.

As expected dealer had the truck all day and couldn't hear the noise ( as expected ). Anyways as soon as I was pulling off the lot I hear it .. does anyone know if KDSS system has enough play to create a light knocking sound?

Here's an example. When pulling into a driveway or across lanes which are uneven I am getting a knock knock knock sound as the truck gets upset by the uneven roads. Potholed gravel roads I hear it going straight and over wash board gravel I can fell something loose.

Im willing to bet my dealer didn't take it out of their freshly paved lot. While I could of just had the thing all day. My dealer SUCKS!

I have the exact issue. Took it to the dealer last week, and they couldn't get it to make the noise. Although, I don't hear it on pavement only on dirt roads and there are no dirt roads around the dealership.

Do me a favor though: Open your hood and check the plastic cover on your left battery terminal. Is it on or off?

It's defiantly something loose it seems like when turning to the left, which causes the body to lean to the right and lightens the load on the driver side suspension, makes it much easier to create the noise given your turning left over anything uneven. Plastic cover is on?

I noticed this a while ago and it has progressively gotten worse, I'm going to call the dealership and have them ride with me, due to the fact that the spot where I hear it the most is in the alley coming uo to my driveway and cannot be denied, it's loud.

Is it more of a rattle or knock? Mine had a rattle that was hard to find, for months. Finally found it to be the inner fender wells were rattleing, replace all square clips and went away (at 2.25 a piece:mad:) Not sure if this is it but one noise that baffled me for a while.

its a knock/thunk sound as the thing sways side to side over potholes or moguls and more easily noticed when turning to the left over this stuff as it really sways side to side.

Ok I was just making sure. When I took mine in to the dealer they popped the hood and the plastic cover had come off. I was thinking that maybe that cover rattling around was making the noise.
